Is McCain Throwing The Election? (By Michael Savage)
michaelsavage.com ^ | August 29, 2008 | Michael Savage (Michael Alan Wiener)

Posted on 08/29/2008 5:56:41 PM PDT by Checkers

McCain has thrown the election. It is clear now with his choice for Vice President that he has no desire to win in November. Why else would he chose an inexperienced woman, whose only apparent qualification is that she won a beauty pageant in the 1980s? Why else would he refuse to say Barack Hussein Obama’s middle name? Why else would he run an ad praising Obama and congratulating him for winning the nomination?

If McCain had chosen Mitt Romney, a man with real leadership ability, real charisma, and real experience, he might have stood a chance. He could have made up for his lack of energy in confronting his opponent, his useless pandering to liberals, and his refusal to expose Obama’s leftism and inexperience. Instead he trumped inexperience with more inexperience. Obama, for all his far-left socialism, picked a running mate who is perceived as giving the ticket more experience. McCain, in defiance of all logic, undermined his strong suit by selecting a political neophyte who waters down his key advantage over Obama.

Of course, I can hear the calls already. Mike, you should give her a chance, she’s a real conservative. Mike, he’s just doing this because he knows he has to pander to win. Mike, isn’t it great that he picked a woman. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Picking someone because of their sex instead of their ability is the same kind of affirmative action insanity that the Democrats have shoved down our throats. We don’t want a panderer, we want a president. If he had chosen a woman who was a real nationalist with a real resume, I would have said, “Right on, John.” But McCain has dropped the ball, thrown in the towel, and raised the white flag. And a generation of Americans will pay for his

Whiner is just playing to the anti-immigration zealots who make up his audience. Nothing McCain does will ever be good enough to them.

So Mike got upset that McCain listened to me and not to him?

His comments smack of sour grapes...which makes very bad whine!

You can donate to McCain directly through Aug 30.

After that, go RNC.

That’s the way I understand it.

I listened to 1 minute of Savage today and he was really going off on her, McCain and Bush. 3 slurs in a minute by an angry blowhard. I use to like Savage but now I can’t even listen to him.

Years ago, I remember Whiner hawking the latest greatest vitamin pills on late late night TV. I don’t think he believes in what he purports to one bit.

While McCain's track record is poor and his stance on many issues is either not conservative at all or not sufficiently conservative, conservatives have to make tactical decisions.

One tactical decision conservatives - including conservatives on FR - made was to roundly criticize the GOP and the RNC for trying to serve up a menu of Giuliani, Romney and McCain as our only choices.

I believe the choice of Sarah Palin as VP nominee - an individual who is a walker and not just a talker on life and Second Amendment issues - represents the concern the GOP and the RNC are beginning to feel over alienating us.

Conservatives have three choices:

(1) Vote for the chimeric hope of a third party - something which has never been viable in the US and cannot be viable in the US given the structure of our institutions. In other words, waste our energy on a tactic that has proven useless - unless electing Clintons is the goal.

(2) Stay home or actually vote for Barack Obama (tactically equivalent moves) - under the theory that the worse things get, the more conservative the general public will become. This is another tactic that has never worked any time it has been tried.

(3) Support the GOP ticket while demanding to be remunerated for our support. That means telling the RNC that we will not be supporting their 2010 GOP Congressional slate with donation money unless they demonstrate a clear commitment to conservative goals in their stated legislative agenda.

Although I don't think McCain is a true conservative, I will not waste my vote on Obama, or no one at all, or the scam artists known as "third party candidates."

Everyone loves to talk in high tones about strategy - no one gives a thought to tactics or operations.

McCain spent less time with with Palin than most homeowners spend with a contractor before they do the "pick" for a kitchen remodel.

I don't know about her, but I think less of McCain. His method was reckless and arrogant.

I like Mitt Romney. I even campaigned for him in Louisiana. He does have better experience than Governor Palin does. However, he doesn't excite the conservative base in the way that she does. He doesn't have the more recent connection to the average working citizen that she has. Admittedly, her half term as governor of Alaska and term as mayor of a small city does not make her an extremely experienced candidate, but she already has more experience in elected, executive offices than both of the Democrats combined. Her relative inexperience only highlights the lack of experience on the Democrat ticket. Her two years as governor of a state with an international land border and an enemy nation just across the waters puts her two years ahead of either Democrat. Her choice doesn't squander the McCain-Palin advantage. Her choice highlights the Obama-Biden disadvantages.

McCain has spent less time with this woman than the average homeowner spends picking a contractor to do a kitchen remodel.

Being President of the most powerful nation in the world during a time of war is an important job. I don't think McCain was all that careful.

We might luck out - she might be great. But the pick appears to have been made in haste. Also, her youngest child is under 6 months - that's a potential conflict.

I'm all for women's rights - but I'm also connected to the real world - and Mom's with infants can have divided loyalties. I don't know if McCain thought about that...
