John McCain Selects Alaska Governor Sarah Palin As Vice Presidential Running Mate

ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and to serve as his vice president.

Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.

Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us -- Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.

In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the "bridge to nowhere" that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.

As the head of Alaska's National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.

Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.

“She’s smart, conservative, pro-life, female, and has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined. She’s the only outside-the-beltway candidate, and the only candidate with executive experience. This should calm conservatives that were concerned about McCain, and will pick off a few pissed off Hillary supporters.

Democrats can’t attack her youth or inexperience, because Obama’s not much older, and has even less experience than her (and he’s running for the HIGHEST office). And, it mutes the “historic” effect of Obama’s candidacy.

This is a gutsy pick, and stands in stark contrast to Joe Biden.

Sen. McCain — this conservative is satisfied. You have my support.”

DITTOS ON ALL YOU SAY.

Picking a solid conservative that also will interest indies and Hillary supporters is a brilliant move.

“she’s against a woman’s right to choose”, “she’s for oil drilling”, etc, etc...........

... not that there is anything wrong with that.

In addition he was EIC of the Harvard Law Review and a graduate of Colmbia University, an Ivy league school.

Wherein he never wrote a single paper as EIC.

Wherein, despite being a graduate of Columbia...he still exhibits a breathtaking ignorance about history, economics, and the Constitution.

Palin has more executive experience than Obama. Palin could teach Obama more than she could learn from him (if anything).

After all, given all of Obama's 'experience', he's still wrong on just about everything.

“Not only is her only attribute her sycophancy to the media, she has a serious legislative investigation going here (I’m from Juneau) over abuse of power.”

That’s a nothing investigation, ginned up by Dems in Alaska to stop what just happened from happening.
Palin on media interviews has said she is happy to answer any questions about the official fired.

Palin is the only one on the ticket with any executive experience, and what she has done during her short time as governor pales in comparison to what Obama has done in his lifetime.

The fact that Obama has been thoroughly brainwashed at an Ivy league law school is a negative in my eyes, and I believe also in the eyes of the majority of Americans. Those colleges are where ordinary people learn their elitist attitudes which estrange them from those they hope to represent.

Americans will be more impressed with this beautiful tough elk-hunter who refused to abort her disabled fifth child. Even more importantly, she already has an 80+% approval rating with her own constituents, and is known for her strong moral leadership. Some people live forever and do little. Others pack several lifetimes into a few years. Palin is the later.

“I’m with you, Palin ain’t no Margaret Thatcher, should something happen to McCain.
Palin’s no match for Putin. “

You don’t know that. She may turn out tougher than GWB.

GWB btw also didnt have foreign policy experience in 2000.

She is a tough cookie. I wouldn’t want to be Putin if he had to tangle with her. She’s taken on the Republican Establishment in Alaska, has five kids, and was the star point guard on her HS championship BBall team! She will get some OJT no doubt on how to handle the job, but its kind of refreshing to see a normal REAL person getting the nod. Hope Washington doesn’t ruin her. McCain saw something really good in her and I think I see it too. Hubby seems like a real man, and both seem devoted to the kids.

McCain camp has looked at all the issues with Palin and investigated the particular allegations mentioned and cleared her. Folks who don’t like her will always find something to complain about.

Palin looks like a great choice to me. After 8 years of VP she could make a great President too. Lets see how she does in the debates.

Thanks for reminding me of the deadline. I just sent a little more and hopefully I can swing something on the 31st.

I am just blown away with joy over this pick. I saw the BO spokeswoman on Fox a few hours ago (can we say, homely) and she was not happy.
