Is it Just Me [Mona Charen]
or does Sarah Palin seem more genuine than the average pol? Admittedly, I'm strongly prejudiced in her favor because she is the living embodiment of the pro-life cause. But she is also the opposite of the America Obama sketched last night. He wants us all to think of ourselves as broken, beaten, and in need of government help. He caricatures the conservative message as "You're on your own." Palin, of Alaska, still carries the spark of the frontier, the independence, and the spunk. I think Americans will identify with her far more than with Senator (been in Washington for 97 years) Biden.
That really sums it up. Obama's campaign focuses on convincing Americans how horrible our lives are. For Obama, the message is all about what we don't have. For Palin, it's about all that we DO have.
Obama you have your day today, but tomorrow we begin. Bang!
You are SO right! Thanks for mentioning it.

It seems like a fairly antiquated view, so hopefully not many. Sadly, there are some men and women right here on FR who have said they also feel the same way.
Will the feminists and Hillary supporters step in and defend Palin?
If they are really feminists, they should. The old-timey feminists always said that we had a right to be whatever we wanted to be in our lives and let no one tell us what we should or shouldn't do. Well, here are all these supposedly "enlightened" and "progressive" folks essentially telling her to a woman's place is in the home!
The left doesn't want strong empowered people, because strong empowered people KNOW they do not need the government to get a head in life.
so far so good.
Amen!
I have been so disillusioned with the process, the candidates, and our prospects for the Fall. Now, with this one pick, I am totally reenergised. McCain has answered the single biggest question that I had: what kind of people would he surround himself with? The answer: the very best, brightest, and incorruptible ones. He has my vote, my money, and my enthusiastic support.
Just notes in a leather bound folder. ;^)
Looking at her family during the speech, I had the same concern. May God Bless and keep them all.

I may need back-up on that other thread (the link in post #607)... I spent WAY too much time over on DU earlier and I just sort of unloaded on our n00bie “visitor”. *blushes* oops...
Gee, my wife told me her place was at home with our kids, so she quit her job for 15 years until the oldest was in school.
Does that make her a DU troll or someone from 1873?
An Enailer to FoxNews suggested that Palin should challenge Obama to a one on one basketball game. LOL.
This is what I am voting for: Palin 2012...
Neat thing is, I can vote for it twice, just one time it is 4 years early...
My 4 daughters and myself will GLADLY support her in ANY way we can... (And, I’m sure my husband will join us in that support - he’s sleeping so he hasn’t heard the good news, yet! I seriously can’t believe I didn’t wake him up with my whooping and hollering, clapping and crying!)
Make no mistake...this is a great pic.
She is a real conservative and I can tell you that I’m getting phone calls from local conservatives who would merely vote for McCain telling me they will give money and campaign.
It’s a masterstroke politically short term and long term. Short term it brings in BOTH conservatives and moderate women. Long term, it ensures a real conservative is the future of the Party and makes major inroads into a lost demographic, women.
Who would have thought that John McCain would be the person who would give a rebirth to conservatism in the GOP and the nation.
In an earlier post here I announced my change of opinion on McCain, and that I will now consider voting for him. I’ve said all along he would have to make me come to him. Today he did. Actually, I consider it a vote more for Palin than McCain, but it will accomplish the same thing.
POLL TO FREEP!!!!
