Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is organizing its supporters tonight to confront Tribune-owned WGN radio in Chicago for having a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air.
"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," Obama's campaign wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "He's currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers."
Kurtz, a conservative writer, recently wrote an article for the National Review that looked at Obama's ties to former 1960s radical William Ayers.
The magazine had been blocked in its initial attempts to obtain records from the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama chaired and Ayers co-founded. The school later reserved its position and made the records available Tuesday.
Obama's campaign is urging supporters to call the radio station to complain.
"Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse," the note said.
"It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves," the note continued. "At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies."

Interesting, why with all his campaign money, and law lecturing, Obama has not instituted a law suit based on libel and slander. Because the statements are TRUE!
The Obama Campagn obviously thinks there some smoke in the Ayers/Obama relationship that may damage him in November. Otherwise, they would not waste their time trying to silence this radio program.
Ironically, by Obama trying to suppress free speech, the content of the radio show will get more public attention. Not very good strategy.

The Ayers story is not going to go away, and these thuggish tactics only highlight how desperate the Obama people are to derail this.

Now I just have to find time to listen to them all.
I did listen to one segment where this lady called in to voice her displeasure about them even allowing Kurtz on the show, since he’s a liar and all of this has been debunked before. When pressed, she couldn’t name one specific lie, she couldn’t refute on single charge. She just “knew” that this was all nonsense, that Barack is a decent man, and that Kurtz must be a liar.
Facts and specifics are not the Obamabots’ strong suit.

Anyone who has ever been involved in a civil action knows the awesome power of the discovery process.
WGN will get every little scrap of paper BO ever touched that has Ayers name on it.
The also have the power to request any information that might be even remotely connected to BO and Ayers, which could include some of the other shadowy figures in BO’s life.
It would expose so much that BO can't afford to have exposed that BO will never ever allow a suit to take place.
