Obama has said that, although he knew Ayers as a professor involved in community outreach efforts in Chicago, he doesn’t share Ayers’ extreme views.

The key question is:

"Why is the educational hiearchy of Chicago, Illinois, and national educational organizations comfortable with a person like Ayers and his, as Obama put it, 'extreme views'?

In having to shoot down any relationship that may have existed (plus all the ties we already know), Obama has highlighted the guilt of the very educational hiearchy Ayers is an HONORED part of. Not to mention his squeeze and former Weatherman terrorist, Bernadine.
