I contemplate divorce every day. It tugs on my sleeve each morning when my husband, Will, greets me in his chipper, smug morning-person voice, because after 16 years of waking up together, he still hasn't quite pieced out that I'm not viable before 10 a.m.
..snip..
Maybe one day, marriage -- like the human appendix, male nipples, or your pinky toes -- will become a vestigial structure that will, in a millennium or two, be obsolete. Our great-great-great-grandchildren's grandchildren will ask each other in passing, "Remember marriage? What was its function again? Was it that maladaptive organ that intermittently produced gastrointestinal antigens and sometimes got so inflamed that it painfully erupted?"

Leftists are encouraging those of their ideological kindred to go into the teaching and daycare professions in order to “procreate” their ideology to other people’s kids.
And some gladly let them.
Been married 32 years.
Have 11 children, two married, 8 grandchildren, so far (see my tag line).
Hoping to outbreed the Left, but they seem intent on importing their heritage.
Yes, we’ve had our struggles, our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, by the mercy and grace of God our Father, it’s ALL worth it.
That’s certainly a goal of the left, and communists.
So Maureen Dowd has a secret life and an alias to publish articles. Sounds just like her.
"...No. Your husband is not your best friend. Your best friend is your best friend. If your husband were your best friend, what would that make your best friend -- the dog? When a woman tells me that her husband is her best friend, what I hear is: I don't really have any friends.."
A good marriage is a good friendship. Chemistry brings people together, but friendship is what makes continuing the relationship worthwhile.
The young woman is unwilling or incapable of making friends with her husband. She should free both of them.
the author must be a homosexual.
What an angry absurd screed this is. Sheesh........
Everything is a man’s fault in her world. She should become a lesbian and go live in Noe Valley.
NIGHT OWL - Happy and fun to be with
MORNING PERSON - Self-Righteous and Arrogant

To quote Triumph the Insult Comic Dog ...
Jump ship Ellen ... and you will die alone.
Call me old fashioned.

Maybe. But no one is forcing people to get divorces or not to marry in the first place. They’re making that decision on their own, which leads me to believe that they’ve concluded that marriage isn’t useful to them anymore.
Just one more woman, unhappy because she can’t accept the role she was created for.
author IS a radical homosexual activist!

This person is writing, according to the source, in “Oprah” magazine. I think a lot of societal problems are explained by this.
Zot, who *are* these people, and what planet do they come from?
This female sounds like one of the evolutionist, marxist, pro-choice bimbos who thinks people get wiser and wiser with each passing generation. I love to laugh at these people when I meet them in person, especially on a two-hour commuter bus! Some people just don’t think about those around them or how they might insult another’s morals. They are so fuming when I get done with them. Their spiel about feminism lasts about 15 minutes until I debunk feminism. Then they spew about rights, and I debunk her rights to welfare, killing unborn children and when life begins. Finally, half of them start to whimper, and then I back off, only to be pummelled by the onlookers, who saw her first attack me. I bask in the light of one who stands up for what is right. And get a few handshakes when I get off the bus.
Nice generalization. That may be the case for some, but I know plenty of morning people who are happy and wide awake, but too lazy to be productive. I hate mornings, get slow starts...but I’m raring to go around noon, and I do my best work at about 11pm, and pay bills in the middle of the night...It’s when my kids and my husband are not up to distract me.
bump
She’ll catch him running around and then do a piece on the lack of fideility in marriage.
Or she’ll hook up with her lesbian yoga instructor and insist on the need for gay marriage.
And it isn’t “useful” to them anymore because... wow, even that statement sounds incredibly narcissistic, it’s all about “what’s in it for me”...
anyway, because our society has denigrated the values that support marriage - Sex, children, mutual support.
