A 270-year-old diary, written in code, has been cracked for the first time to reveal a secret history of the Methodist church, it emerged today.
After nine years of painstaking work, more than 1,000 handwritten pages from 1736 - 1756 have been deciphered from the personal diary of co-founder Charles Wesley.
He helped establish Methodism with his brother John and also wrote many well-known Christmas carols, including Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
The long passages of ‘hidden’ material in his journal give a fascinating insight into the personal life and religious beliefs of the younger Wesley.
Charles used his shorthand code to write about sensitive matters including his sharp disapproval of his brother John’s marriage, and their disagreements over the Church of England.

The only tradition remaining from Wesley’s time is the absolute authority of the Bishop. Today that authority is used to promote Marxist liberation theology, a clear and visible conflict with Biblical Christianity.
The UMC is theologically positioned precisely where the UUA was in the 70’s. They can no longer be considered Christian.

I’m not going to bother reading the 1000 handwritten pages of decoded stuff (I’m not a Methodist so it’s only a passing interest), but....
If I can make a prediction based upon the current psychobabble, Wesley will have secretly revealed that:
1. He was gay
2. He suffered from depression, bipolar or something else
3. He was in favor of legalizing pot
4. He thought capitalism was a threat to his Church
5. He was a big fan of Karl Marx (don’t worry about the bogus timeline)
6. He was totally against drilling in ANWR and fossil fuels.
