Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain may announce his choice for a running mate earlier than expected, sources told FOX News on Monday.
McCain had previously said he would announce his vice presidential pick on Friday and would appear with that individual at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, following the announcement. Friday is McCains 72nd birthday.
But sources close to McCains campaign told FOX News that his decision may come sooner than that possibly on Thursday, when Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination at Invesco field in Denver, Colo.

Dear Mr. McCain,
Don’t be stupid and try to get too cute by trying this stunt. Remain reasonable and steady and you will win the race.
I agree. The day after the convention would be better.
I believe that announcing any VP during the other’s convention is tacky at best and politically unwise. Let them have their week in the sun, use others to attack any speeches they might have, while you go out and use that time to gather donations.
After their convention, shift the attention by making your announcement.
This might just at least get a “little” attention to McCain...nothing like Obamas’ week of build up....but maybe a little notice!!!
Don’t think they’ll make the announcement until Friday — they are just trying to soak up some media oxygen.
I agree.
James Carville just said the convention has no message.
The convention itself is in trouble. Why get in the way of the enemy’s self destruction.
It is looking like the message leaking out is Obama has no experience.
Well, I thin McCain is an idiot if he doesn’t pick a woman, and to do that in the middle of the dem conventions will really upset the HRC supporters. But, y’all are probably right not to get to cute with it.
James Carville just said the convention has no message.

Sure it does! Hope, Change, George Bush’s third term.
He really should wait until late friday in time for evening
news cycle. The convention so far is a dud. Tonight and tommorow will be all about the Clintons and then Thurs
is Obama’s over the top speech in a stadium.
I would not be surprised to see no bounce.
McCain needs to convince voters he can turn the economy
around and he’ll close the deal.
Otherwise, no.
Seriously out of the box. Hillary? Al Sharpton? A space alien?
I think mccain is an idiot if he DOES pick a woman to pick a woman.
The only women mentioned so far are outright or potential rinos.
The Clintons are sabotaging this event....why wouldn’t they? Obama took their “coronation” away.....
Tread lightly on that.
This is the Dems’ week. Any perception of Team McCain trying to grandstand ‘their’ week could have a huge negative impact.
Let them have their week. Then make the announcement.
I find it interesting that of all the speakers slated for the GOP convention, Condi Rice isn’t listed. Why is it a big deal? With all the emphasis on race, a speech by her refuting all of Obama’s crap is necessary. More telling is... I’m wondering if she’s the VP pick.
