Sources: McCain May Announce VP Choice Before Friday
Fox News ^ | August 25, 2008

Posted on 08/25/2008 8:52:30 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain may announce his choice for a running mate earlier than expected, sources told FOX News on Monday.

McCain had previously said he would announce his vice presidential pick on Friday and would appear with that individual at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, following the announcement. Friday is McCain’s 72nd birthday.

But sources close to McCain’s campaign told FOX News that his decision may come sooner than that — possibly on Thursday, when Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination at Invesco field in Denver, Colo.

McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds diminished the news.

“I wouldn’t much weight into reports that there are windows of possibility,” he said.

Several names have come up repeatedly as McCain’s possible running mate, including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and, perhaps, Democrat-turned-independent Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. Also named is Gen. David Petraeus, the incoming head of Central Command.

wow people are so in the bag for Mccain, unless my search-fu is bad, I know its HARD to search of things on FR. I did a search for an article where daddy yankee endorses Mccain. I guess no one bothered to post it. Can you believe this crap PawPaw McSame believes this will help him out in the Latino community. He pretty much has that wrapped up with his amnesty stance. He needs to work on bringing conservatives to(wont work for me) him. Pawpaw Mcsame is just delusional.

So we throw away a pro-life, pro-Israel, pro-gun candidate becaue he speaks in cliches?

This is the bottom of the ninth guys. We are either going to start putting aside some petty differences and look at the big picture, or we will lose this game - except it isn’t a game. It is the future of the country.

Folks may not like Romney or Huck. Fine. But at least try not to tear them down. Remember the Reagan doctrine of not saying anything ill willed about a fellow Republicah. There was a reason for that.

Well then, pack all your worries in your ol' kit bag, and git your ass off to Denver so you can chant for Obama, or head off to whatever carnival side show act Bob Barr is starring in, and have yourself a gay ol' time.

John McCain is the only candidate capable of stopping Obama and his Marxist crew of misfits from taking over the Executive Branch.

If you're ok with President Barack Hussein Obama, head on over to DU and make yourself at home.

Remember, Dick Cheney versus John Edwards - classic.

Truly one of the high points of the '04 campaign.

If ONLY we were welcoming President Dick Cheney to this year's GOP convention to celebrate eight years of Cheney-Bush ...

Well, Dick Morris just told the Friends that McCain reallllly wants Joe L., will probably pick Mitt and be unhappy about it, but the winning pick would be Kay BH.

“I agree, but I also think it would be tacky to announce during the Dem Convention.”

It also might backfire if people don’t pay as much attention to the announcement as they would otherwise or if people get turned off by the gamesmanship of the timing.

“I guess you don’t remember Gen. Eisenhower a two term President”

Dwight also had incredible name recognition and was the most popular military figure in the most popular war in our history. He could have won with his hands tied behind his back. You can’t really compare the two. Most American’s couldn’t tell you a thing about Petraeus. I still think it would be a very risky pick.

“Remember that it took a Carter to get a Reagan”

That was before McCain-Feingold.

Because of CFR, we will never again have another Reagan get far enough along in the primaries to make a dent.

Repeal CFR, then we have a chance.

I like the idea of announcing on Thursday, it will force the pundits to talk about it and detract from the Chosen One’s Big day.

My fantasy: Blackwell

He needs to save Gen. David Petraeus as a possible SecDef nominee. Just as long as Colin Powell is not in any position.
