On first reading, I thought that said he should refrain from Communism. *giggle*

Um, not to jump on the RC church, but why weren’t the pro-death people kicked out of the church long ago? Does the Pope mean what he says or not? (Note: the protestant churches don’t do such a hot job on church discipline either, but that doesn’t excuse anybody.)

As for a policitian saying they are personally opposed to abortion but allow for a pro-choice position, that is just plain creepy. The only reason to be pro-life is that you believe abortion is murder, so what these people are really saying is, “I personally oppose murder, but it’s OK if other people approve of or want to commit murder.”

Not to disparage, or to attempt to meddle...

but why don’t these bishops give them the “choice”:

denounce abortion or give up your church membership

The protestants have a problem with “church discipline” in that there is another protestant church down the street that will simply let them join without checking their background.

The Catholic (”universal”) Church shouldn’t have this problem.

I had to laugh when the MSM claimed on Saturday that Biden’s Catholicism was a big plus for the Obama ticket. So, dumb, they couldn’t even acknowledge that Biden’s pro-abortion stance would become a big negative for Catholics.

Has anyone rought up the fact that abortion is racist? The black population is 11%; yet 1/3 of all abortions are by black women. A whole generation of blacks - Jackie Robinsons, Thomas Sowells, Clarence Thomases, all destroyed. Blacks killing blacks.

The pro-aborts have a litmus test... they won’t consider approving a SC justice unless they are pro death (only for the unborn, not criminals). Yet they accuse us of having a litmus test. I hope every bishop in every diocese comes out strongly against these “Catholics”

...but alas he was able to receive the Eucharist yesterday as he has every Sunday.

Scandal.

You have hit on a good question. A favorite old priest of mine was once our diocesan exorcist. He favored giving communion to those who present themselves assuming that they are on a faith journey and God will eventually get through to them on all such issues. That their faith is a journey and kicking them out would leave them with no guidance or help. My only question is why that priest of Biden’s is proud of him, since Biden is such an obvious failure of his.

I wish I had the answer for you, I am for excommunicating them myself. Yes, I am a Catholic - a real practicing one! LOL

Someone better tell the monsignor at Bidens parish. He permitted him to take communion, although he admitted that he has spoken to him about the Churches teaching on abortion.

I cannot tell you how many Catholics at my church are democrats and proud of it. I had one parishener hound me by following me across the church to campaign for Hillary. I just told him we WERE IN CHURCH and I was not going to discuss politics. I did add a comment about her proabortion stance and history, which was NOT the position of the Catholic Church. His wife finally shushed him. We only occasionally speak these days. RME

Well, you are right, MrB, but that isn’t how it is supposed to work in a real church. None of them should have this problem, but we live in a fallen world.

One of the things we’re overlooking is that there is a difference between a private individual who needs work on his attitude to abortion and a public figure, a leader, who actually makes decisions on the issue, supports it, promotes it and passes laws permitting or encouraging it.

Perhaps the first person, the private individual, needs lots of preaching and lots of prayer, and obviously the priest cannot be expected to quiz every person who comes up for Communion. But it is a scandal for a known public figure, a politician whose self-proclaimed views and actions are known to everyone and known to be in conflict with the teachings of the Church, to be admitted to Communion.

I am hoping some bishop somewhere will have the courage to tell Biden that he may not go to Communion in his diocese. Biden’s bishop, Saratelli, is very forthright on the issue in genearl, but he told his priests that they were not to make the decision on withholding Communion. Maybe this means that he himself is going to forbid Biden to go to Communion, after a due warning to repent?

Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver has said that Biden should refrain from Communion.

I've always been jealous of Denver after spending an evening with Bishop Chaput at a Kateri conference. A truly great man.
