McCain, Make History- Choose Hutchison (editorial)

Yes, I know she says she does not want to be vice president. Biden also said that. If offered she is not going to turn down the opportunity to make history. I know she will not be the first women running for vice president. But she will be the first QUALIFIED woman to do so. Geraldine Ferraro was the first one. But like Barack Obama, she was essentially an affirmative action choice. There can be no questioning of the first US female senator from the Texas, Kay Bailey Hutchison qualifications or her vote getting ability.

Too old. Sorry Kay!

Heather Wilson is a good pick.

Jennifer Carroll from Florida is another. Both experienced former military.

Kay Bailey can give Biden a run for his money in debate. But, Sara can say that she will defer to President McCain who is far superior on foreign policy, and, she will look good at funerals. Besides, nobody can understand a Biden answer, least of all himself.

Everything else, she has it all over the windbag.

She was back at work as Governor three days after giving birth.

Is Judith Klinghoffer married to David Klinghoffer, or otherwise related? David is a cousin of Leon Klinghoffer (1916-1985) who was murdered by Palestinian terrorists.

We need a Vice President that is ready on Day One to serve as Commander-in-Chief in the event that the President is unable to do so, for whatever reason.

There is no time for training wheels, America is at war, rookies and lightweights need not apply.

Being governor of Alaska is a lot different than being VP. She doesn’t have to travel anywhere. She can stay in Juneau and get her work done.

To be VP, she has to run around the country campaigning. How is she going to do that with a newborn, especially if she is nursing?????

Elizabeth Dole would be a decent choice, but I’ve seen no evidence that she is interested.

By the way how is Michael Steele’s potential for McCain VP looking?

Sarah Palin. Michael Steele. Just think...if McCain didn’t finish his first term (God forbid) wouldn’t it be lovely if a Republican woman or African American man became THE FIRST?....then Hillary would never be the first woman...and Obama would never be the first Black.

Fishrrman, this woman essentially agrees with you. No rising hackles here.

It’s not that I don’t like some of the women who are in the mix for VP, contention, I just don’t see any with the experience and the ability to step in should something happen to McCain if he wins the WH.

In 4 years, but not with a newborn.

Believe you me, lsm, Obama bin Biden would use this as political hay. If it were not for the newborn, yes, but no, not now.

This sounds like selecting a female just for the sake of selecting a female. Otherwise, Hutchison brings nothing to the ticket except smaller genitalia.

Who then?

Everyone keeps on saying no to possible VP picks.

Here’s my list of VP picks and their problems:

KBH - says she doesn’t want it, too old, Washington Insider
Sarah Palin - inexperienced, newborn with down syndrome
Lieberman - ex-dem
Condoleeza Rice - Bushie, never been elected, don’t know her stand on issues
Colin Powell - Don’t know his stand on issues
Fred Thompson - Tired when he ran for Pres. Brings the same problems with him to the race.
Huckabee - Many don’t like him, lightweight
Romney - too liberal

I could go on, but they all have problems. There are slim pickings. I didn’t even list Carly Fiorino and the other Silicon Valley woman EBay gal (can’t remember her name). I don’t like them as VP picks. I’m in San Jose, and I heard too many bad things about Fiorino when she was at HP.

War - quite frankly - is the business of men, NOT of women.

There are at least a few women who have the right stuff.

Actually, she’s not pro-choice. If she were, she’d be in favor of revoking Roe and sending the issue back to the states to let the people CHOOSE. Although I oppose legal abortion, it is possible to support it on a state level and still condemn the extreme judicial arrogance that defined that decision. That for me is a deal breaker.

So this author believes all women are feminists? AND that allowing unconsitutional, undemocratic legislation from the bench - as evidenced in Roe v Wade - to stand is “pro-life enough for conservatives”? Just what are her own conservative credentials, I wonder?
