Joe Bidens just a barrel of gaffes By Jonathan Chait February 04, 2007 in print edition M-4 DELAWARE Sen. Joe Biden has been telling people for months that hes going to run for president, as if nobody could actually believe it. Even when he formally announced last week, I still didnt believe it. In fact, Im not quite sure what it would take to make me believe it. If I turned on the television and watched Biden formally accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention, I might believe it then. (On the other hand, Id probably figure I was suffering some hallucinatory episode and check myself into a hospital.) Im not saying Biden shouldnt be president. I have tons of respect for him, and I think hed do a terrific job if he could get it. I just find it amusing that he thinks theres some chance he could actually become president. Its a case study of that bizarre mental affliction that strikes so many senators. They see younger, less-experienced Senate colleagues who are far less esteemed than they are running for president, and theyre offended. If the 100 senators were the only ones who could vote, Biden would probably beat Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. Unfortunately for Biden, thats not how it works. Bidens charming cluelessness was on display in a recent ABC news interview. The famously verbose senator was asked to state in 25 words or less why Democrats should nominate him. His response was 45 words.

Now there are three senators in the Presidential campaign. If McCain goes out and picks a governor from somewhere west of Pennsylvania, it would be a huge plus. Any governor at this point could run rings around Biden in a debate. I wonder if he would give Palin serious consideration?
middles = middle
There goes the 7-11 vote for Barry....
Yes. A little bird told me!

A squishy pro-choice Catholic.
It won’t be Condi. McCain supports the war , but he is not going to rub the Iraq war into the voters face.
I still can’t believe he picked Biden.
The only two possible worst choice would be Ted Kennedy or Charles Manson.
BTW-2 ... Condi Rice will be McCain’s VP choice ! Just Watch !!!
Condi hasn’t even endorsed McCain yet.
She would be a lousy candidate, and she is liberal on social issues.
Interesting since the Archbishop of Denver has NOT been invited to take part in their convention.
He is however planning to take part in a March for Life with Dr King's niece.
Is this how they intend to court the FL voters...? This one should make the late night talk show joke circut.
Obama picked himself a tutor. This tutor can teach Obama how many states comprise the U.S., how many years a person can legally be President of the U.S., that Canada does not have a president, etc. Biden has his work cut out for him, if he thinks he can bring Obama up a level before November.
My guess that, among the Left, Biden is viewed as some kind of a hero for having stayed in the Senate for 35 years despite having no qualifications.
If it was Biden, some technically talented FReeper should post the YouTube vid clip to every thread on this forum!!!!
SandRat, I PING!ed you because I figured you would remember if anyone would!
