Republican Steve Pearce has cut his opponents lead by more than half, but Democrat Tom Udall still leads 51% to 41% in the U.S. Senate race in New Mexico, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of voters in the state.
With leaners factored in, Udalls lead drops to 52% to 44%, the first time in five months of polling that the gap has been out of double digits.
Last month, Udall had a 59% to 34% lead over Pearce.

At last, a little bit of good news on the U.S. Senate front.
Is the vote fraud factored in too? ;(
It is possible that after the 2008 election, NM will have gone Democrat for president, has the Democrat governor, and will be 3-0 Democrat in the House and 2-0 in the Senate. The state loves government.
With Pearce regaining his footing, maybe McCain can do something to help him. A strong grass-roots in Pearce’s Congressional district would certainly be helpful and perhaps counterbalance ‘Rat vote fraud elsewhere in the state.
In any event, the race no longer looks hopeless.
It’s possible, but it won’t. The House delegation will be unchanged (2R-1D) and I can’t see Obama ultimately winning here. Udall may pull it off, however, but by an uncomfortably close margin.
Forget two liberal Udalls,lets get rid of both of them from the body politic.
Worst case scenario(and probably more than likely) Obama will win here and possibly District 1 becoming Democratic since the last couple of races were close calls. District 2 however is safe, so it will 2D-1R. I’m not even gonna call the Senate race, I predict it will be a close one as well.
Actually, I think Darren White has a better shot than Ed Tinsley. Thankfully Sheriff White is a first-tier recruit.
I have noticed that Udall flip flopped last week and went from his earlier absolute opposition to any domestic oil production, nuclear plants etc. to being for it;
And since he is running 10 ads to every one of Pearce’s, Claiming that Pearce is obstructing energy development the average ‘American Idol (Idle)’ fan in NM is going to think (quite incorrectly) that Udall is something other than the Cap and Trade - Global Warming true believer and anti-capitalist enviro-wacko that he really is.

Anyone with the last name “Udall” should be deported.
I don’t think they’ll take Pearce’s house seat.
You’d think they moved to the desert to escape government.

The Pearce campaign is having an effect. His problem now is underfuinding. He may have to use his personal wealth to stay on the air.
