U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, died Wednesday evening at a Cleveland area hospital after suffering an aneurysm.
Tubbs Jones, 58, chaired the House Ethics Committee and was one of Hillary Clintons biggest supporters during the Democratic primaries.
The liberal Democrat, first elected in 1998, suffered a brain hemorrhage while driving her car in Cleveland Heights Tuesday night, said Dr. Gus Kious, president of Huron Hospital. He said the very serious hemorrhage was caused by an aneurysm that burst in an inaccessible part of her brain.
Her death was announced late Wednesday in a statement from the family, Huron Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. They said she died at 6:12 p.m.
Just like Yassar Arafat.... He’s dead, NO, HE’S ALIVE, He’s dead, NO, HE’S ALIVE.......
'Tis but a flesh wound.
It’s really weird, isn’t it? It may be the speculation (on FOX and elsewhere) about her being an organ donor and that may be why there’s a mixup ?
Prayers for Rep. Jones and family.
This is same thing that happened to my Mom, she didn’t last long after being taken off life support. Very sudden and unexpected.
I echo your prayers and supplications.
Prayers for her friends and family.
Pretty poor professionals, if that’s the case.
Perhaps that was the reason.
Absolutely.............prayers for her loved ones, RIP
Oh dear. I just heard this on the radio.
This is a difficult and scary time for her loved ones. My prayers are that she knows Jesus, and that her family finds comfort in that and through Him, as they pray for her recovery.
May they all know the peace that passes all understanding.
RIP...God bless family and friends.
Prayers for her family.
A reminder to us all to live each day as tho it might be our last.
Let our families and friends know how much they are loved.
My SIL’s father died of an aneurysm. I don’t think the victims suffer but the families certainly do, they’re so sudden and most often never caught until it’s too late.
I feel terribly for Ms. Jones’ family. Like others have said, I hope her relationship with God was where it needed to be.
Wow, 58, same as Tim Russert.
I have been to two funerals this year, both cancer victims, where in the eulogy it was revealed that the dying lamented having to miss the election.
Sad that Ms. Jones will miss the historic event, not to mention her own reelection.
I just checked the Cleveland Plain Dealer online...apparently she has not died, but she is in grave condition. Regardless, prayers for her family are in order. I ditto your hope for her relationship with the Lord.
bttt
So if you have some perceived propensity for an aneurism, what are they going to do for you, operate on you in advance? Preventative brain surgery? A brain aneurism is a fast and generally fatal event. Just because your risks might be higher than normal doesn’t mean you should run to a doctor in panic.
Typical AP “reporting”.
I guess God decided it was time for her to retire.
