McCain responds to Obama at an event today in New Mexico:
Yesterday, Senator Obama got a little testy on this issue. He said that I am questioning his patriotism. Let me be clear: I am not questioning his patriotism; I am questioning his judgment. Senator Obama has made it clear that he values withdrawal from Iraq above victory in Iraq, even today with victory in sight. Over and over again, he has advocated unconditional withdrawal â regardless of the facts on the ground. And he voted against funding for troops in combat, after saying it would be wrong to do so. He has made these decisions not because he doesn't love America, but because he doesn't seem to understand the consequences of an American defeat in Iraq, how it would risk a wider war and threaten the security of American families. I am going to end this war, but when I bring our troops home, they will come home with honor and victory, leaving Iraq secured as a democratic ally in the Arab heartland.

Which SOB? LOL
Honestly...how do you question the patriotism of a man who has none?
Yes. I was going to answer your earlier post, but I agree with this one, pulling out of Iraq when victory is in sight. McCain’s statement is politically smart. He is tearing a stripe off Obama for being naive and stupid. But many people, as we see in the replies on this thread, will say, “Well, actually, I think Obama is dumb AND unpatriotic.”
Of course, he is. But no need for McCain to say it openly. Even as he seems to exonerate Obama from the charge of not being a patriot, he is raising the topic once again, and keeping it alive in people’s minds.
The same thing happened to Jean Kerri. He made the big mistake of running as a Vietnam veteran. As a result, he opened many cans of worms that he would have been wiser not to touch.
Obama is dumb for even raising the issue and for screaming, “Don’t question my patriotism!”
Because while McCain says, “Oh, no, of course not, I wouldn’t do that,” he is keeping the issue on the front burner and making everyone wonder about it. Gee, maybe pulling out of Iraq and declaring defeat when you’re doing very well IS a dumb move!
Indeed. As Mr. P. J. O'Rourke once put it, "Age and Guile Beat Youth, Innocence, and a Bad Haircut."
As has been pointed out by various folks, the big difference between McCain and Obama is in life experiences. McCain has seen and experienced things that most of us simply cannot imagine. And his long experience with playing hard-ball national politics gives him a tremendous advantage.
I would be very surprised if Obama's petty complaints had any more effect than to amuse McCain.... This response is just one of (hopefully) many more to come.
McCain has really got obamawhine on his heels!!
With Obama tanking, you have to wonder how his handlers plan on keeping Michelle’s militant side under control.
That ought to be a clue.
As others have pointed out, Obama's patriotism is that of the liberal; to wit, criticism of the U.S. of A. is the highest patriotism because by finding and fixing "problems" America can become a great country. Thus Obama can claim to be a "patriot."
In Germany he acknowledged the evil doings of America but, as I interpreted his remarks, declared that he still loved the bitch and intended to make Her into a great country.
Like many silly women who do not love men.
LOl....not to worry, Ron. We all KNOW it....but you are right...with today’s media...it HAS to be stated that way. Personally, I am convinced that Obama is not patriotic and has NO real understanding of evil in this world.
;-)
No,no .. you dont get it. He loves his country, its just that he's a stupid ass coward, that's all.
You and I both question Obama's patriotism, and probably in private McCain does too. But he can't even imply that in public. However, he can point out the public policy positions that make no sense, and let American voters draw their own conclusions.
“Obama is remarkably thin-skinned for a Presidential candidate”
I was very surprised several months ago when Obama complained about comments making fun of his ears. I couldn’t believe that this guy was running for President and was not prepared for cartoonists and impressionists making fun of everything about him, especially any eccentricities of speech or appearance.
No President has ever been spared from ridicule over his appearance or his speech. Is it possible that he expected to be the very first President of the United States to be given an exemption from public ridicule?
That's a racist hateful statement. Not. ;-)
