Democrat Barack Obama used his appearance Tuesday at a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention to attack Republican John McCain's critique of him to the group a day earlier - but got a cooler reception than did the Vietnam veteran running against him for president.
Obama denied McCain's assertions that he was for failure in Iraq, or shifting his anti-war stance out of expediency, or in any way basing his foreign policy on a strategy to win the presidency. "Let's have a serious debate, and let's debate our disagreements on the merits of policy - not personal attacks," Obama said.
Obama said he wouldn't attack McCain's pro-war motives because "I believe that he genuinely wants to serve America's national interest" and that "now, it's time for him to acknowledge that I want to do the same. I will let no one question my love of this country."
`SNIP`
But McCain was the clear favorite among the predominately older, white male crowd, and there was little indication that Obama's speech changed minds. Fewer VFW members attended Obama's remarks than McCain's - due at least partly to heavy rain and hurricane and tornado threats.
Meanwhile, many of the veterans left the hall with frowns on their faces.
"You don't want to know what I think," said one. "I don't have anything nice to say," said another.
Sam Compton, an Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam, said Obama "seems to be talking out of both sides of his mouth" when he calls for bringing Iraq troops home and focusing more on domestic priorities, then talks about the need to redeploy troops to Afghanistan. "McCain in my personal opinion has more experience on foreign affairs than Obama and has served in the military. I think that's important."

Have others of you noticed the increasing tendancy for Obama and his MSM minions to blame something or someone else for their failings?
Now they are blaming the weather for Obama’s cool reception!!!!!

This was akin to Adolf Hitler addressing the US military and convincing them that he’s a nice guy! The whole scenario is too sick and bizarre to be funny. The Muslim Messiah and his Liberal cohorts are as much our enemy as Al Qaeda. Both have the same goal, the destruction of the USA as we know it.
Pretty bold statement since Obama is the one that declined McCain's invitation to have 10 town hall debates. Obama is very afraid of debating if he doesn't have a script.
Tell him Obama's only his half-brother.
True enough. But it looks like the vets treated Obama politely. No surprise there, as most vets try to carry themselves with a certain amount of dignity.
I too recall that he claimed our honored dead were in his audience on Memorial Day. I don't think Obambi knows that Memorial Day honors those who died in service. I don't think he knows much of anything.
This rookie can’t help but be thin skinned and defensive. Not a winning prescription.
Yea, has to be true, I know as a Viet Nam Infantry vet I’m scared to death to go out in the rain. LMAO
Kerry was unable to gain the VETS votes.
How could a loser like Obama get them ?
Bill KRISTOL interview : McCain will win

See, now there's his problem. He really needs to find another way to phrase this. It's like Bush trotting around saying "jobs Americans won't de-ew".
Obama..the candidate of "games" not change. First there is the "name" game he has played: Which name does he really have, which is on his birth certificate, which did he use in school, which name can we use and which name of his aren't we allowed to say?
Then there is the "blame"game he is playing: He couldn't visit the men and women in the military hospital because (well, there were actually three excuses he gave for that). Then he didn't do well in the Saddleback Q and A session because McCain cheated and had heard the questions beforehand. Now, the turnout at the VFW to see the celebrity campaigner was poor because of the weather. Give me a break!
Talk about biased reporting--a twofer. Obama received a cool reception because the crowd was mostly white and old, just like McCain. LOL. I guess these old white bigots didn't like the black guy because of the way he looks and his age.
My daughter (teacher) and grandkids were off school both yesterday AND today because of Trop Storm Faye.
“RW weather conspiracy” for sure. :-)
No surprise from the vets, they understand Duty, Honor, Country!
