Sen. John McCain has pulled a nickel ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in the Reuters/Zogby poll, marking the first time the Arizona Senator has taken any lead in this monthly poll.

The poll conducted last Thursday through Saturday came on the heels of the Russian invasion of Georgia -- the same time period that Obama vacationed in Hawaii, giving McCain the advantage of reinforcing his foreign policy positions.

Keep in mind, this poll likely doesn’t include post Saddleback sentiment.

Damn, I got my hopes up til I saw it was Zogby. I just do not trust their numbers. Still, other polls show a definite trend towards McCain. Headlines like this will shake the Dems’ confidence. Probably just make Obama more desperate and he will fight dirtier.

McCain did so well at Saddleback that I think this "nickel" is a low-ball figure to try to make it appear that it's within the "margin of error" -- the Media would go into apoplexy if they thought for one minute that Obama couldn't make up the difference in votes with that "margin."

Nyah, Nyah, wait until November. Can we vote against MSM and replace them with Fair and Balanced Media?

According to Reuters, McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, neutralizing the 7-point advantage that Obama held in July. The telephone poll of 1,089 likely voters has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

In a head to head survey, Mr. McCain was winning eight of the states surveyed - Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania - and Mr. Obama was winning in four of the states-California, Minnesota, New Mexico and New York.

The poll also found Hillary Clinton’s former supporters are still up for grabs with Mr. Obama capturing close to 60 percent of their support and Mr. McCain earning 21 percent. Close to one-fifth are still undecided.

The margin of error in the Quinnipiac poll is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

I find it interesting almost 4 days have gone by and we haven’t had a post Saddleback poll. Usually, they’re immediate with their pronouncements. Could it be the MSM and polling firms are so disheartened with what they’re finding, they’ll wait until the Democrat convention, hoping to minimize the fallout?

Possibly. We’ll know as soon as polls start coming out, I guess.

Then you wouldn't be voting for Skeletor. He's their hand picked candidate.

Strange headline. When The Messiah was up five points, did they call it “a nickel”?

McCain also said his VP WILL DEFINITELY BE PRO LIFE. That narrows it to ROmney and one other I think.

That narrows it down to Romney, Pawlenty, Palin, Portman, Jindal, Senator Grhamnesty, etc. etc.

I hope this doesn’t mean making Hillary co-council.I realize
her negatives, but she’s postively Presidental compared to
Obama. She could pull enough votes to the Dems side.I think
this is Obama’s only chance of winning.

Am I the only one who finds the term “nickel” odd? It seems like an awkward attempt to diminish the number.
