In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.

...much like Teddy Roosevelt backstabbing Taft in 1912.

Interesting comment, LS. Sounds like you are not completely smitten by History's love fest of TR. Neither am I.

I've simply got to read some of your books...

On the contrary, I believe Obama has a STRONG core belief system,

but he also has enough intelligence to know that he has to hide it.

On economic issues, however, he is a complete dumbass, and sees economic policy through his “social justice” filter, leaving him blind to reality.

You addressed your post to me, so I must correct you. I did not say H (Hussein) would be replaced. So I’ll thank you if you’ll read more carefully and not confuse me with a conspiracy theorist.

What I said was that he still might pick Hillary for a running mate, which is a common and reasonable expectation. Nor is it based on one poll alone. The general trend appears to be that he is sinking as time goes by. She brings the disaffected Democrats to support the ticket. He needs at least every Democrat, to win in November. But after that (in his thinking, after he wins), she becomes a liability.

Given that Zogby has a history of using “sauce” to skew the polls toward the RATS, I am willing to bet that this gap is even larger”

Or the race is tighter and Zogby is giving the sauce to help Hitlery supports get fired up.

In every election cycle that I can remember, the polls leading up to it always favored the dhimmirats by 6-10%.

Factor that in, and we have a Mondale/McGovern level landslide.

And, of course, when Bambi loses it will be because America is racist,

and, as another poster put so eloquently, there will be riots in urban areas costing

hundreds

of dollars in damage.

It is almost a guarantee that Obama will “surge” in the next few weeks, with his VP announcement, and the convention next week it is almost inevitable (so don't go Chicken Little when the next round of polls come out), so this is the perfect time for McCain to lead. It will soften the fallout of the coming events.

If they do this, there will be riots in the inner cities which could cause hundreds of dollars worth of damage.

Very big LOL!!

We all know the bounce story coming, and it looks like this poll will be a key benchmark quoted. But there’s something satisfying in having our expectations prove us right: it confirms that we at least have a pretty good take on how the media and politicos operate.

My dream scenario back in the spring when McCain was “nominated” and Hill and Bambi were still fighting it out in operation chaos:

Bambi gets the nom, Hillary steals it. Dhimmirat party dissolves. We “right flank” the GOP/McCain in 2012. We win with a conservative party. The GOP becomes the moderate/left party and absorbs the dhimmirats.

I really don’t like Teddy. Fabulous patriot, leader, good foreign policy vision. Terrible on business. A hater of entrepreneurs. Tremendous ego. “A brilliant madman born a century too soon,” said one. I’d say, a century too late. He would have been more at home with Napoleon and Gustavus Adolphus.

I don’t think Hillary will steal it. They will go down with the SS. Obamination.

It is an absolute shame that so many blacks are willing to overlook Obamas incompetency and inexperience to say they cast a vote for one of their own.

One of their own leads me to wonder if blacks such as Rice, Watts, Powell will put skin color before country.

I guess it’s time to send in my check to the DNC and McCain.

Maybe we do have a chance to keep the POTUS over Obambi.

If they voted against the One, they would finally do enough to alienate the black voter - who would likely stay home.

There is nothing the dems can do to alienate the typical black voter. The pathology is too established.

BTW, I'm still predicting there will be no dem convention (as we have known them) in Denver next week.

Not Rice, even though the media attempted to imply that she said she would. My apologies to various folks for posting that inference a while back.

I think Watts and Powell have voiced support for Bambi, unless that was another media distortion.

Yep. Just ask any black democrat voter if they would vote for a black Republican / Conservative, and I'd bet 99% will say no.
