Coca-Cola celebrates Ramadan

Coca-Cola plans to celebrate Ramadan this year by decorating cans with a crescent moon and star – a widely recognized Islamic symbol.

Coca-Cola has hired a company named ATTIK to handle packaging, Brand Republic reports. Its Christmas cans are usually decorated with secular-themed images of Santa Claus, but McCartney asked the company whether it planned to introduce Christian symbols as well.

"When I learned the symbol of the Islamic faith will appear on Coca-Cola packaging during Ramadan 2008, I found myself wondering whether or not the Atlanta-based soft drink maker will soon include the Christian cross and Jewish star of David in future holiday packaging designs targeting people of those faiths," he wrote.

You can try buying Cola Syrup and mixing it with seltzer water. In my state it is kept behind the pharmacist’s desk. No script is needed; but it just isn’t on the open shelves anymore.

“I’m addicted to Coke. Damn them!”

Yep. Same here. I gave them a good “earful” just now, on their comments website. It probably won’t make a dent in their decision, though. It’s yet another instance of catering to the Muslim world.

I am sure that Santa Clause is Cokes nod to the Christian Holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Why shouldn’t it be since that is what we have turned Christmas into. How many Christians have the guts to tell their 3 year old that Santa Clause is not real. At least Jews and Muslims respect their religious holidays. We have the Saviour of the whole world and we allow him to be replaced by a fat man in a red suit.

Thank you. Mail has been sent.

This is more proof that an Islamic takeover of our country is being instituted by degrees. They hope we won’t notice these ‘small, innocent changes’ or, as bleeding heart idiots would think, “gee, Muslims are a part of our country, too, and need coddling to feel at home”.

We must be vigilant at all times the creeping Islamization of the US.

When we lived in Saudi Arabia (for my husband’s job), Coke was on the contraband list and wasn’t allowed in the country. What has changed?

What has changed? They are working harder to export their religion to the US.

I remember reading in a biography of Warren Buffett how he invested big in Coca Cola back in the late ‘80s. One of the (admittedly probably minor) reasons was how they were breaking into the Indonesian market, the fourth largest country in the world with over two hundred million people, 50% of whom are under the age of 15, 90% Muslim (no alcohol) and with a permanently hot and sticky climate. Such a market was the very stuff of dreams for the Coke marketing men.

I’ve lived in Indonesia and I have to say no one drinks Coke, it’s not an anti-American thing, they just don’t like Coke, they prefer local fruit juices and iced tea drinks.

Coke’s just creating more aggro for themselves with their loyal market for no obvious return from the Muslim market.

To quote the article: ""In a globalizing world, Ramadan presents an opportunity to showcase the true values of Islam and what it stands for," it said."

The operative word is globalizing.

So, Islam is concerned about its image as it should be.

Thats a good point and certainly rings true. The fact that Santa Clause is accepted as a substitute for the cross is very telling indeed. Regardless, I feel it sends the wrong message to reward the most intolerant of all religions with recognition of legitimacy. In reality Islam represents everything the liberals and also the “diversity” departments of these major corporations will not tolerate from others.

I don't have a problem with boycotting Coke or fighting for anything but shouldn't we clean a little house ourselves while we're at it.

Think about the Muslim who thinks his god reigns. He compares his "religion" to Christianity and the nations who claim to be Christian and their holy days consist of rabbits who deliver eggs to children ( celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection) a bearded old man who delivers presents via flying reindeer (Christ's birth). I mean Thanksgiving seems to be a holiday where God is thanked for his graciousness and it is an American holiday.

Islam of course is a lie but try confronting the myth of Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny during our most holy days and watch your family around you call you a nut or religious zealot.

Everybody ... sing with me:

I'd like to teach the world to sing
in perfect harmony.
I'd like to buy the world a Coke
and .... oh, forget it.
