New Unit of DIA Will Take the Offensive On Counterintelligence -

By Walter Pincus

Monday, August 18, 2008; A09

The Defense Intelligence Agency's newly created Defense Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence Center is going to have an office authorized for the first time to carry out "strategic offensive counterintelligence operations," according to Mike Pick, who will direct the program.

Such covert offensive operations are carried out at home and abroad against people known or suspected to be foreign intelligence officers or connected to foreign intelligence or international terrorist activities -- but not against U.S. citizens, said Toby Sullivan, director of counterintelligence for James R. Clapper Jr., the undersecretary of defense for intelligence.

Sullivan and Pick, who is chief of the agency's Counterintelligence Human Intelligence Enterprise Management Office, spoke to reporters during a Pentagon briefing this month.

“Counterintelligence Human Intelligence Enterprise Management Office”

If they’d played with that a little harder they could have made it come out “CHIMP.”

Defense Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence Center

Does this mean the CIA is history?

A blast from the past:

Able Danger ping!!

The DIA resurfaces for a quick press release...I wonder if this has anythign to do with the recent intelligence failure in Georgia. It’s clear that Bush was highly upset at the CIA the other day, and probably very disappointed in Condi’s misreading of Russia’s intentions.

Able Danger was what, eight years ago? The technology that this new venture musy possess has got to be quite effective- that is, if the lawyers allow them to use it...

Condi royally screwed up policy on Russia and N. Korea.

Forgive Russia, ignore Germany and punish France?

Give me a break.

I see this as a postivie. Many within the CIA have worked against this administration or have been utterly incompetent - how could you not see Russian tanks moving on the Georgian borders? What other kind of interpretation could possibly have been made? If you ask me, it’s ‘bout time they had some competition.

It’s clear that Bush was highly upset at the CIA the other day, and probably very disappointed in Condi’s misreading of Russia’s intentions.

Russian intentions were quite clear.

What isn't clear is why we didn't know what Saakashvili was up to or why we weren't able to control him.

I certainly hope we didn't encourage him or give him the "green light"!

The pipelines are clearly less secure than they were before!

If Barry "World Citizen" Soetoro is elected he's likely to eliminate all U.S. Intel agencies.

If Barry is elected, a whole bunch of us may get recalled to be put into jail or some type of re learning camps.
