Allies Ask Obama to Make ‘Hope’ More Specific
The New York Times ^ | August 16, 2008 | PATRICK HEALY

As Senator Barack Obama prepares to accept the Democratic presidential nomination next week, party leaders in battleground states say the fight ahead against Senator John McCain looks tougher than they imagined, with Mr. Obama vulnerable on multiple fronts despite weeks of cross-country and overseas campaigning.

These Democrats — 15 governors, members of Congress and state party leaders — say Mr. Obama has yet to convert his popularity among many Americans into solutions to crucial electoral challenges: showing ownership of an issue, like economic stewardship or national security; winning over supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton; and minimizing his race and experience level as concerns for voters.

Who are they kidding?

He is the king of glittering generalities — why would they want voters to focus on his weak qualifications and total lack of experience?

Zero conservatives will vote for Obama because he's a tax hiking communist liar. So it is clearly democrat supporters the democrat party leaders are concerned about being racist. We already know the democrat party is the party of racism, but here is yet another tacit admission of the fact.

I’m surprised that anyone on the left would ever ask for “specifics.” It seems like “hope” and “change” should be good enough for them. My problem with Obammie is that I’ve been a doer and not a hoper all my life. Sitting on my @$$ hoping for someone to do things for me does not work for me.

Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time
There’s something wrong here
There can be no denying
One of us is changing
Or maybe we’ve just stopped trying

And it’s too late baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can’t hide
And I just can’t fake it

It used to be so easy living here with you
You were light and breezy
And I knew just what to do
Now you look so unhappy
And I feel like a fool

And it’s too late baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
and I can’t hide it
And I just can’t fake it

There’ll be good times again for me and you
But we just can’t stay together
Don’t you feel it too
Still I’m glad for what we had
And how I once loved you

But it’s too late baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can’t hide
And I just can’t fake it

Don’t you know that I...
I just can’t fake it
Oh it’s too late my baby
Too late my baby
You know
It’s too late my baby

If these politicians even suggest that Obama’s message is unclear, they’ll be branded as racists and drummed from the ranks. They apparently just don’t get it; the rules have changed and to survive they have to learn how to be quietly intimidated. Substance and issues have been replaced with unquestioning loyalty and complete subservience. That’s the change Obama will really bring; like Germany in the 1930’s.

...and what he means that America isn’t the same as it used to be ... in what way exactly is it different (to him that is) ... maybe he wants Democrat rule in the South again, Jim Crow laws and segregation ....

Well, uh...free healthcare, free college tuition, free housing, freedom from oil - all paid for by bringing the boys home from Iraq and taxing the rich and the oil companies their fair share. How’s that?

Yayyyyyyyyyy. Hubba hubba.

The New York Times is finally admitting Obama may lose. Three months ago it was unthinkable. The mood in the MSM has changed from one of triumphant celebration to one of barely disguised panic. I love it!

To a considerable extent, political analysts say, the closeness of the race at this stage reflects the fact that many voters are not paying attention to it, after the long, wearying primary season. Many Democrats pointed to the election of 1980 when voters, choosing between a relatively inexperienced former governor, Ronald Reagan, and an unpopular incumbent, Jimmy Carter, finally flocked to Mr. Reagan at the end after resolving whatever qualms they had about him.

So the ever-present anonymous political analyst card is used by the NYT to push the "nobody is paying attention" angle. That may have applied a month or two ago but the two big "parties" are about to be held and so attention has increased. Either way what the NYT is saying essentially is that all the previous polls that showed Obama ahead were illegitimate because people weren't really paying attention. Once again the NYT's intellectual dishonesty knows no bounds.

As to the line, "...a relatively inexperienced former governor, Ronald Reagan..." we see a statement of pure absurdity. Reagan was first President of the Screen Actors Guild (before he came to his senses) and then was the governor of the LARGEST state for EIGHT years. How in God's name can the NYT's label Reagan as "inexperienced"?

"a relatively inexperienced former governor, Ronald Reagan"

This jerk at the NTY tries to draw a parallel of Obama's 143-days in the senate before declaring his presidential run to Ronaldus Magnus' two completed terms as California's governor, during which time budget surpluses enabled Reagan to begin tax rebates that returned almost $6 billion to taxpayers.

Jr. done anything remotely close to that, has he?

Of course not! The NYT lies shamelessly!
