Wild theories of 'Obama Nation' author [Corsi, FR]
Politico ^ | 8/13/2008 | By KENNETH P. VOGEL

Posted on 08/14/2008 12:50:31 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The folks behind “The Obama Nation,” the wildly successful but factually disputed new book trashing presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, are casting it as a scholarly, thoroughly researched work.

But its author has left a trail of wild theories, vitriol and dogma that have called into question his credibility.

Jerome Corsi, who rose to prominence as the co-author of a book attacking 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, penned another tome asserting oil is a nearly infinite resource that continues to generate naturally, and posted a series of online comments through 2004, including suggestions that Hillary Rodham Clinton is a lesbian and Muslims worship Satan.

In an interview with Politico, Corsi pointed out that he’s apologized for Internet postings ripping Muslims and Catholics, and said they don’t undermine the integrity of his new book.

“I wrote those to be provocative and I said I would not use that kind of politically incorrect language again, and I don’t believe I have,” he said.

~~snip~~

But his outrageous assertions and fringe theories — which include allegations that President Bush worked to eliminate the borders with Mexico and Canada and the assertion that Kerry is a Communist — have hurt his credibility on the right, as well.

Corsi’s co-author on the Kerry attack book, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth spokesman John O'Neill, downplayed Corsi’s role after the left-leaning press watchdog group Media Matters exposed Corsi’s venomous postings in the conservative blogosphere.

On the blog FreeRepublic.com, Corsi wrote that pedophilia “is OK with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press,” that “RAGHEADS are Boy-Bumpers as clearly as they are Women-Haters” and that Kerry is “Anti-Christian, Anti-American.”

~~snip~~

Hmmm?

Lemme see.

1. Swift Boaters put out the the truth on John Kerry.

Result: Libs squeal like stuck pigs attacking the reputations of the Swift Vets but don't refute any of the Swift Vets' story.

2. Corsi puts out the truth with copious footnotes on Obama.

Result: Libs and Kerry and Obamatons squeal like stuck pigs and attack the reputation of Corsi but do not refute any of his book's facts.

3. CBS Evening News anchorreader Dan Rather and his minionette Mary Mapes put out a crudely contrived hit piece on George W. Bush in an effort to sink his re-election chances.

Result: Neither Rather nor Mapes is attacked as being partisan flacks with an axe to grind. However, their "story" is shown to be a poorly constructed fraud that does not stand up to scrutiny.

And now the results we have all been waiting for:

Kerry loses. Rather is canned.

Mapes is canned.

Swift Vets gain a lot of support and a place in history.

Corsi book becomes NYT best seller.

Oh! And FReeper Buckhead enters the FReeper Hall of Fame.

From Politico.com:

“Kenneth P. Vogel, who goes by “Ken” when he’s not in ostentatious reporter mode -covers the confluence of money, politics and influence for Politico. He has reported on politics and government for The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash., The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., The Center for Public Integrity in Washington, D.C. and The Journal Inquirer in Manchester, Conn.

He spent most of 2006 learning about the U.S. Congress from the inside through an American Political Science Association fellowship that let him work on the staffs of two House committees. He’s won awards from the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors, the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors. He grew up in Philadelphia, where he was afflicted with an unwavering allegiance to Philadelphia sports teams, which have repeatedly built - then dashed - his hopes. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, where he developed a passion for journalism.

He enjoys eating out, sleeping in and jogging around.”

Here’s some facts:

Philadelphia is a Democrat infested sewer. Always has been. They cast more votes than they have registered voters.

Wilkes-Barre is corrupt, full of Democrats and mob types. Always has been.

This clown is a journalist who graduated from the U of Wisc. Worthless degree from a flake liberal college.

This guy can’t be taken seriously. He needs to borrow a brain cell so he has another.

Sounds to me like Vogul didn't read his book. I'm not finished with the book myself; but Vogul is off on a tangent rather than correcting any inconsistencies he found.

Typical criticism of Corsi's book:

"Corsi said wild and nutty things in the past."

Like what?

". . . and his book is full of smears!"

What smears?

"You know, the lies.

What lies?

"All that stuff that's on the Internet."

What stuff?

"The smears."

What smears?

"You know, the lies.

What lies?

"All that stuff that's on the Internet."

. . . .

On Larry King last night, Corsi said he was a Libertarian and didn’t plan to vote for McCain.

He was one of 6 people the Constitution Party put in an online poll abotu who should receive their nomination.

Of course, they then ignored the results.

Good advice! Media Matters had his worst posts up within hours of the outing of his Freeper name.

A person is well advised to keep personal Info off the web, particularly when you are posting on political boards. It is like Joe Steffen and the MD4Bush affair. He used a name that allowed a politcal opponent in his area to track him down and lure him into making statements bad enough to get him fired.

Corsi blows away any credibility when he goes on Truther Alex Jones show and supports Truther and anti Catholic Chuck Baldwin.

I see FR is back to being a blog, again. *sigh*

This, from people who think that McCain is a 'techno-dunce' in lack of knowledge about Internet culture.

I hear you.

How did a column re: ObamaNation end up with forum posts instead of debunking of issues in the book?

This is what makes me sick Jim. I can go right now and give you chapter and verse of his own books (Obama’s), interviews, videos, documents and ‘real columns’ that ‘real journalists’ wrote that actually researched and investigated (unlike Politico and others that shill instead of disproving the claims). I didn’t go to J school; I’m a regular Jane Doe. I can do it and Mr. Vogel can’t? It can be done with only Obama’s writings and words, his families statements on video and knowledge of the subjects.

This is like the MD4Bush piece of crap shilling for Obama with Danielle Allen (supporter x thousands), because she thought it was unfair someone told the truth, no counter-argument... a Princeton, UC elite that was upset; Would Mosk like to put a column up for me, as well as video, because I feel we’re being treated unfairly?

It is clear we’ve become lazy as a country. News is not reported or researched. They should be ashamed not knowing the power they have to strengthen their nation by reporting facts only. Will they ever ask why stocks are going down and people turn to new media?

Norway is burning like France for two weeks, anyone hear or see it (It only took three weeks for France btw), over 130,000 have been run out by Islamic Coro in the Philippines (fighting islamists forever), do you see it?
How many stories on the massive improvements and infrastructure in Iraq? Christian girls beheaded along with their teacher in Indonesia... nada. That pipeline that goes into Turkey re: Georgia, do they have any idea of the effects of a hit? Nope. How about follow-up on the mysterious guy in the hotel (four blocks from where the DNC will be held), with a large quantity of cyanide?
Get an update anywhere? No.

Members of the ‘media’ who wish to shortcut and get the info, instead of doing your job, mail me.
