Yes, like Reagan, he was a Democrat. Remember that Jane Fonda/John Voight anti-war flick? Jeez.
To: shaft29

JON VOIGHT?
He may be right on this, but I still wouldn’t buy a used car from him.

Henry Fonda was a flaming Liberal himself, why should Jane’s behavior surprise you?

Good comments.
It rankles me when conservatives accept Leftist mythology as fact.
The mythology of “McCarthyism” (and the lesser known, but equally important Nixon HUAC invesigations-the real reason for the get-even circus of Watergate), is a liberal foundational pillar. Too many on the Right do not vociferously contest the Left’s rewriting of history.

In response, Hollywood blogger Jeffrey Wells wrote, "If I were a producer and had to make a casting decision, I might very well say to myself, 'Voight? Let him eat cake.'"But you're not, Blanche! You're not a producer!

But would you speak to him if you saw him on 7th Ave wearing a cowboy hat and boots?

Young ‘un-
Have you explored the plethora of excellent sit-coms from the 50’s and 60’s yet?
The Dick VanDyke Show
The Andy Griffith Show
Make Room for Daddy
The Joey Bishop Show
Leave it to Beaver
McHale’s Navy
etc, etc
There are enough quality productions from the past to enable one to easily avoid the smut, leftist preaching and general detritus of today’s TV (and movies).

Jeez is right.
I have learned from the controversy I created when I was young, idealistic, and naive. Thank goodness we get second chances in life.

...HUAC invesigations...Actually, the committee was called "The House Committee on Un-American Activities". It was the Left who changed it to the "House Un-American Activities Committee" (HUAC) in an attempt to imply that the committee's activities were UA.

Only if he was riding the horse.

You are so right, it is sad to see a true patriot such as Senator McCarthy be victimized by the Liberal onslaught of what they call facts. After doing my own research in this I would assume,IMO, that this is the time when the Newspapers and T.V. news hopped in the same bed as the Liberal Loonies, if you will. Because looking back at history and seeing the headlines of the NYT, before McCarthy was raked across the coals, you would of seen the front page with ticker tape parades of our troops coming home, you saw women working to fill in the gaps that the men left. You just read stories about how great America was back then. I could be wrong on my assumption, but the bottom line is McCarthy saved us and the liberals were pissed that they were getting “called out” and used the media to damage a true patriot.
I have to say, before I was educated, I thought the same thing as everyone else did. What changed my mind was an article written about him a few years back from Ann Coulter. It opened my eyes, made me think, and I just started to question all the sources I was getting my news from. I thank God for this because I don't know where I would be right now if that didn't happen. Probably some zombie leftist wanting a handout.

Well, let's hope not, Bill. Of course, I had many friends among those people who were blacklisted, and it was a very dark time for Hollywood. I mean, I don't think anybody wants to go back to that.
Well there goes any respect I had for good ol' Jon.
People were blacklisted because they were communist and were trying to use the medium for propaganda purposes.
This goes on today at an accelerated level, just watch many of the programs on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, etc. etc. etc. and listen for left-wing positions posited as fact, or political correct theories (i.e. Global Warming) posited as fact.

Hollywood blogger Jeffrey Wells wrote, "If I were a producer and had to make a casting decision, I might very well say to myself, 'Voight? Let him eat cake.'" Apparently, Wells is auditioning for the role of Marie Antoinette in some upcoming movie.
Hmmm...I wonder how Wells would look in a powdered pompadour.

I recently read an interview with Jolie and she said something to the effect of, “I’m not one of these people who say just sit down and talk...give peace a chance...I know that violence is sometimes the only solution.” So, I think her and hubby’s silence about Obama is akin to backing McCain.
