GORI, Georgia (AP) - The Georgian Foreign Ministry says more Russian troops have moved into the strategically key city of Gori even though a withdrawal had appeared to be under way earlier in the day.
Ministry spokeswoman Nato Chikovani also said Thursday that Russian troops had moved into the Black Sea oil port city of Poti, from which they had appeared to leave earlier.

Latest on Fox, just before I logged in, Gori under Russian control, confirmed by western media on the ground; Russia troops on road to capital again and Georgian troops massing there as well, speculating a showdown for the capitol.
There will be no showdown. This is swatting a fly with a sledgehammer.
Again history repeats itself. The west stands idly by while the old “Soviet” (new name “Russia”) is up to its old tricks. The cold war never ended, it only changed in its appearance and the emphasis the U.S. places upon it.
Yikes Darth ..thats some picture. Looks like the Evil Empire is on the Rise. The Russian’s have been playing in South Oss for too long, and now they want thier Empire Back.
OK, Fox is now saying that Russians are pushing deeper into Georgia, but that it hasn’t been confirmed 100%. WE need to put some freakin lean mean paratroopers into TBLISI to hold the line and keep a buffer zone. Why are we not defending our allies?
More then just the money and material things. He apparently wants to also come back and beat his spouse a few more times.
and that cease fire agreement is about as effective as a restraining order.
This is the first round of the great war for oil.
Right now, logistics is the biotch. The Russians can roll over Georgia anytime they want because they have the armor in situ. We would need to fly the heavies in or send ships and the Russians would know that ahead of time. By the time we got our forces in, Tbilisi would be leveled. Once Tbilisi is lost then Georgia as we know it is pretty much gone. So anything we do now, if we do it, has to be under the radar. Yes we could send in a airborne division, but you generally do not land them into the advance of an Armored column. If we do send in the airborne they should be on the back side of the Lower Caucasus in support of Tbilisi. There is also a Russian military base in Armenia with 70 some T-70's tanks. The airborne could get stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not a great place to be. And once US troops go in, Russia is free to up the ante. We don't know what the Prime Minister of the Golden Horde has in mind here. Moving his pieces back and forth right now to cause confusion. He obviously wanted Georgia and perhaps much more.

Bookmarking this map, and thank you too! :) I see “why” Gori. It is a very strategic location from which to center an operation encompassing that entire region.
The more I think of this, the more it looks like Russia just slapped the tar baby. They can't get out, and if the keep going they will end up facing us an the Turks. But we can't really support Georgia either without risking a nuclear war (which would happen).
I think that Russia wants to deescalate, but doesn't have enough control of her units to do so.
I don't. As for restraining orders, plenty of people die with those in their hands.
Indeed, a restraining order won’t stop a bullet.
I really hope I am right. Perhaps because if I am wrong millions of people will die in a new world war. That is where this is heading, and fast.
Someday, lots of nations will regret they wished our defeat along with the enemy withing, our very own liberal 5th column running Washington. To them, Putin is a ‘freedom fighter’.
But the US gets world news when a dozen total sick Army kids sexually humiliated Iranian mercenaries at Abu Grahm. What a world it is. Troubling indeed.
I think that is a very safe guess indeed. But the Russians will be back and my guess is that we’ll face off with them some late fall in a very few short years in Europe.
We’ll get serious but unfortunately, our as most nations, we only learn from pain and then are reactive. The enemy within will be destroyed hard and fast but they will do there damage first. A true shame.
I didn’t hear that. If true, part of a larger disturbing strategy and pattern yet to emerge.
I would not count on the Turks as a buffer. They are more likely to simply let the Russians pass through there country, but such things aren’t likely now. The Russian military complex is still being built up. And the world keeps forking over the wealth for oil. America could do what it needs to do but the liberal movement will make sure we have lots of solar panels the common American cannot afford and a nice wind project in Texas T. Boone and a few dozen Dems will make uber-uber rich. Being uber rich is not enough.
The leadership of Turkey is mixed moderate and radical Islamic and the shift in leadership in radical Islam has grown much these last 10 years.
