The more I think of this, the more it looks like Russia just slapped the tar baby. They can't get out, and if the keep going they will end up facing us an the Turks. But we can't really support Georgia either without risking a nuclear war (which would happen).
I think that Russia wants to deescalate, but doesn't have enough control of her units to do so.
I don't. As for restraining orders, plenty of people die with those in their hands.
