The McCain Round Up

I want to TRY to post a McCain Round-up once a day or very other day. This one is a lot longer than some of the future ones will be, I promise.

Polls are useless at this point in the campaign for projecting a winner in November. They are however useful in showing the general standing that candidates have with the electorate and in displaying trends of changing perceptions and preferences.

One trend is clear; most true independents, after shaking off the groggy feeling of Obamania, are lining up with McCain. Event after event, issue after issue, McCain is drawing a clear distinct difference between himself and The One. One man is prepared by a lifetime of service in every facet of his life and the other is a media creation of hype.

First McCain hammered Obama mercilessly with body blows of truth regarding the situation on the ground in Iraq, the success of our troops, General Petraeus’ leadership and of course Obama’s total disconnect from reality and lack of boots on the ground to observe the truth of the situation.

Then came the European Oba-orgy. Senator Obama ran around and pretended to observe the troops progress and dissed their successes right in front of them and then proceeded to Europe.

In Europe, Bam-bam successfully misallocated the success of bringing down the Berlin wall to the efforts of “the people of the world”. (No one knows better than Berliners whose policies brought that wall down. They know it was President Ronald Reagan and Lady Margaret Thatcher who worked together to cage the Soviet Bear.) The One finished up by proclaiming himself a “citizen of the world”. This did not sit well with Americans who are tired of the ungrateful of attitudes of “world citizens” in the face of American generosity and sacrifice.

McCain, meanwhile, was busy touring the USA and making his pitch through out the heartland, talking an increasingly improved tough line on border security and immigration.

While American’s are sacrificing to keep fuel in their tanks AND pay for escalating grocery costs, Obama continues to try to force ethanol and wind as an immediate solution to our energy crisis.

McCain has softened his positions which had been skewed by older pandering to the envirowacko’s. McCain has called for offshore drilling and developing inland resources such as shale, Bakken oil reserves and major nuclear energy investments. Unfortunately he has yet to wise up on ANWR.

Most recently and dramatically has been the real life 3AM call. It was not a campaign point set-up by either party but rather a dress rehearsal when watched through the lens of American elections. Obama failed horribly while McCain did what he has been made ready to do by a lifetime of experience.

Russia, viciously and savagely attacked a Democratic state and American ally, Georgia, with impunity. Obama’s response was anemic and cowed. He tried 4 times over 3 days to finally get CLOSE to the right position.

McCain quickly gathered the facts and made the exact right statement which The White House later echoed. McCain minced no words and warned that Russia faced severe consequences if they failed to withdraw and honor their borders and neighbors. He contacted the Georgian president and assured him of American solidarity with their noble efforts.

In no small part the poll shift has been benefited by several other factors: A clever and entertaining shift in approach of the McCain campaign, highlighted by “Celeb” and “The One” commercials. Obama’s gaffes in removing the American flag from his plain and adding “The President” to his seat. The Obama presidential seal. Jesse Jackson’s “nutty” misspeak. Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton again. Then there was Bill Clinton. The general backlash from the perception of a media force feed on Obama.

All these things and more have added up to a dramatic shift in the national polling which has seen a double digit lead for Obama evaporate into a clear tie between the candidates. The most nagging question has been why the various electoral projections are lagging behind the national polls. I hope we are not overly stacked with McCain supporters in concentrated areas of support.

My general feeling is however that the shift toward experience will continue and McCain is looking for a solid win but nothing near any kind of landslide. Possibly even a plurality victory of the electorate with a majority in the Electoral College.

Norman Bates and TitansAFC do a great job of pinging The McCain list with the most important items but in an effort to avoid "overpinging" you can see it's not possible to ping on EVERY article.

If you would like to be on The McCain List. try picking the link below.

You are right, and you didn’t need to. Thing is that this is a free nation (still) and I chose to click on the posted link. Just because you need not ping me does not mean that I am going to limit myself.

If you're not voting for McCain, you're voting for Obama, I hear. But conversely, if you're not voting Obama, you're voting McCain! So you're voting McCain since you're not voting McCain and not voting Obama.

I hope I don't get into trouble for my vote, because I'll be voting for three candidates at the same time. At least according to some people.

McCain is what we’re supposed to rally around... God help us. I just re-watched a bunch of primary debates and everyone up there sucks expect Paul (go ahead give me crap). He was the only one who could state his position without stuttering and said what he felt. Regardless of his stance on the war on terror, he states his points and makes sense.

I’ll give McCain this: He wiped the floor with Romney on torture and took a very principled stance. I admire that, but he’s going to have to do a LOT more to get my vote.

Hey I am looking for a reason to vote for McAinez, but he seems to be leaning towards picking a VP that is in favor of murdering babies. Says a lot about the kins of judges he’d pick.

Also gives me all the reason that I need to NOT vote for him.

"We should work toward the establishment of an independent, international peacekeeping force in the separatist regions, and stand ready to help our Georgian partners put their country back together."

No thanks, nation-builder.

“Surrender monkey.”

I believe that you were challenged to either put up, or shut up. Since you lack the “grapes” to put up, I strongly suggest that you do the latter.

Every time some bit of evidence pops up to vote McCain, he does something to piss me off to. It’s getting old and really frustrating. I’d like to vote for the guy, but he isn’t giving me anything to vote for.

Rather be a nation-builder than an isolationist nutjob. We have been working with our allies since the day of our founding.
