DULLES, Va. - Forty-two men in the U.S. illegally have been rounded up and arrested at Dulles International Airport. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested the illegal aliens Wednesday morning on airport grounds at a checkpoint established to verify the identity and immigration status of workers entering a service gate. Most of the men were working construction projects at the airport.
Mark McGraw, special agent in charge of ICE's Washington field office, says it's important Homeland Security knows who enters sensitive areas like airports, military bases and power plants.
"This operation illustrates ICE's ongoing efforts in partnership with federal and local agencies to secure the critical infrastructure within the National Capital Region," says McGraw.
Of the more than 200 people interviewed, 42 were identified as illegal.
The men who were taken into custody have been fingerprinted, photographed and entered into Homeland Security databases.

Sheesh, 42 of 200? About 20%. This is not a small problem. And how many of those jobs were ones Americans would not do?
Get rid of the illegals, hire americans, and the uneployment rate would drop to 1%

Since the 1970’s the hourly wage rate for general contruction labor in DC Metro has been reduced by anywhere from 40 to 60 percent. I know that because I used to work construction here as a part-timer in college.
Laborer crews that used to be a mix of races, ages, and ethnicities are now almost 100 percent Hispanic. You will rarely find a caucasian on a laborer crew, as was very common 20 and 30 years ago.
And given the opportunity to register to vote under the Motor Voter Fraud Act?

The labor rate when I was working DC construction in the 70’s was $6-$8/hr. Normalized to 2006 with CPI or inflation, that’s about $22-$26/hr in 2006 dollars.
In fact the rate paid to illegals in DC is about $12-$16/hr from what we hear anecdotally.
This problem at Dulles has been going on for a long time. There is a lot of major construction going on in the ramp areas (with access to aircraft gate areas) with hundreds of workers where Spanish is the normal language and subcontractors round illegals up for all the unskilled work.
ICE has a field office just outside the airport. They and everyone else knew that Dulles was teeming with illegals.
Why has it taken this long?
ICE needs to check the damn cab drivers next....lots of muzzies....
I find it amazing the amount of foreigners in the DC area...tons of middle easterners as well. Saw women in burqas at the Dulles airport! Weird, almost 3rd world-like.

Actually, to my knowledge, this is the SECOND such I.C.E. raid of that Airport in about three years. They also had another big high profile roundup of illegals, and it made quite amount of headlines.
While these 42 were being picked up, somewhere north of 400 illegals crossed over the Mexican border into California, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico*.
*....(conservative estimate)
Ice ain’t gonna pick up the illegals that crap on the crops until all the crapped on crops are picked. They will, however, pick up the ones that build or clean the crappers in an effort to show the legal crappers that they are doing their crappy job.
