Obama is an excellent candidate to be a Manhurian candidate.

It was not "impossible" in "the other". British subjects remained British subjects. The United Kingdom chose when to exercise its own prerogatives regarding the situation.

This was one of the problems that made American entry into what became known as the War of 1812 "popular". Brits were not recognizing American naturalization of British subjects.

No, it's not naturalization ~ it's conquest ~ we need an immigration attorney here ~ but my understanding is that there are several traditional threads of law regarding the status of conquered people.

One standard incorporates them into the greater nation on a permanent basis ~ "natural born" would derive from that. Another incorporates them separately, but with the conqueror absorbing all foreign affairs and defense functions ~ this has ususally given the "colonized" folks a preference in immigration. Another incorporates them separately and taxes the heck out of them, and the natives have no "right" to immigrate. That's a little different form of colonization, but widely practiced.

When we defeated Spain in a war a century ago we absorbed Puerto Rico but not the Philippines. Puerto Ricans became American citizens. Philippinos didn't, but they did have preferential quotas.

We also annexed Hawaii in a deal with the Brits (who had held it as a colonial possession of some sort).

All Hawaii residents were brought in as citizens whether they wanted to or not. Might be worth a doctoral thesis to get someone to go back and figure out how citizenship affected the different sorts of folks then living there. I do know about 25,000 Japanese pineapple choppers immediately loaded on boats and headed East!

No one is trying to make BOH look like a great guy, but I have never heard of Washington having dual citizenship. It might be argued since we are not a country at the time, that he was part of England and the newly founded US of A. But that should of changed things when the Declaration of Independence was written. No-one qualified at the time to be President under current law, because in actuality, everyone was a citizen of England until they declared their Independence.
The United States Constitution, drafted in 1787, did not explain citizenship, but it did mention “citizens of the States” and a “citizen of the United States.” Citizens of the United States became entitled to the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution and its later amendments. Among these rights were the right to vote, own property, seek elective office, and to be protected by the laws of the land.

Because the young United States followed British common law, it accepted the rule of jus soli, or place of birth. As early as 1790, Congress recognized the rule of jus sanguinis, or blood relationship, by passing laws giving citizenship to a child born in a foreign country if the father was a citizen of the United States.

So how much do you really know about dual citizenship again?

No, they became American citizens when they adopted the Articles of Confederation. Otherwise they were considered citizens of, for example, Virginia, or Maryland, or the other states just recognized by European countries.

The Brits still considered them "subjects" insofar as their laws were concerned. The Treaty of Paris saved the founders from also being identified as traitors should they travel to UK.

Check out Benedic Arnold. Odds are good that when he jumped ship he was not considered an immigrant by the Brits.

“Just sayin’.”

On the other hand, aren’t Muslims allowed to lie to infidels w/o consequence if the intended goal is to expand the Ummah?

Good find ... I didn’t realize that AP ‘discovered’ and apparently dismissed the info apparently as meaningless. Aren’t we surprised ........./sarc ..

This, from WashPost perspective, just about labeling it all but libelous, covering it with cynicism and ... most pointedly .. linking it to the Pubbie Willie Horton/Dukaikis ad creator:

~~~~~
Was Obama Ever A Muslim? - Fact Checker
***Note the ‘in passing’ comment, referring to AP’s reporting by WashPost .... (that’s not reporting .. that’s an obstinate REFUSAL to pursue any factual information.)
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/06/was_obama_a_muslim.html
“Question: Was Barack Obama ever a Muslim? He says no, but the Associated Press found records that showed Obama was in school as a Muslim living in Indonesia and the Obama campaign can’t explain why. Maybe it doesn’t matter if Obama were a Muslim back then, but it does matter if he’s not telling the truth about it now.”
http://www.exposeobama.com, June 2008.
* * * *
The Republican consultant who helped sink the 1988 Dukakis campaign with his infamous “Willie Horton ad” is using his attack dog skills against Barack Obama. A web ad created by Floyd Brown, founder of a conservative political advocacy group called the National Campaign Fund, accuses the presumptive Democratic nominee of covering up his Muslim past. The ad relies on a mixture of half-truth, innuendo, and dramatic headlines rolling across the screen to depict Obama as fundamentally “untrustworthy.”
The Facts
As with his 1988 ad attacking Michael Dukakis for being soft on crime, Brown has grounded his assault on Barack Obama on a seemingly solid fact. It is true that the Associated Press reported, in passing back in January, that Obama was “enrolled as a Muslim” in a Catholic school in Indonesia in 1967.
He was six years’ old at the time. The bulk of the AP article was devoted to rebutting rumors that the Illinois senator had attended an Islamic madrassa while growing up in Indonesia.
***Documents viewed by the AP ***
showed that students attending the Fransiskus Assisis Catholic school were registered under one of five different religions: Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic or Protestant. Obama, then known as Barry, attended the school from 1st through 3rd grade as student 203. He later enrolled in Public Elementary School Menteng No. 1,
***a school incorrectly described by the Washington Times Insight magazine and Fox News as an Islamic madrassa.***
The Brown ad misses out key facts that cast a very different light on Obama’s Muslim connections.
At the Catholic school, he was required to participate in Catholic rituals and pray four times a day. Teachers quoted by the Chicago Tribune said that he was probably registered as a Muslim because this was the religion of his then-Indonesian step-father, Lolo Soetero.
Like many Indonesians, Soetero was a rather lax Muslim who drank and did not abide by the strict tenets of the faith.
More importantly, the Brown ad attaches far too much importance to an entry in a ledger written under unknown circumstances more than 40 years ago.
The Tribune report notes that the ledger entry was “rife with errors.” It listed Obama as an Indonesian, gave an inaccurate name for his previous school, and made no mention of his mother.
It is unclear who wrote the ledger entry, which can be viewed at the school but is unavailable on-line.
While historians generally prefer written evidence to oral evidence, documents can also be misleading, or simply inaccurate, on occasion. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is no record of John McCain’s birth in the Panama Canal Zone in the records of the Canal Zone Health Department, now available at the National Archives. After reviewing all the available evidence, I nevertheless concluded that McCain was born in the Canal Zone, as he has stated.
It seems clear that Obama, who grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia, was exposed to many cultural and religious influences as a child. But he appears to have shown little interest in organized religion until he “found Christ,” in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in the mid-80s.
The dominant influence in his life was neither his father (whom he barely knew) or his stepfather, but his mother, Ann Dunham, a free-spirited type he once described as a “secular humanist.”
Interesting timing that the left is suddenly this evening, all over the cables, having a collective breakdown over Corsi’s book.
Which I received from Amazon a week ago.
Could they be attempting to distract from very troubling questions , like this, about Barry’s background ?
If you save it to your computer, then open it in any graphics program, you can zoom it.
Done that. The image is only 72 dpi. A higher resolution image would yield more/better information.
Not if you have the image in q-bit compression. You can zoom right back to the classroom with that.
I do know that John Effin Kerry is starting his OWN anti-smear site for Obama- which in itself is wonderfully ironic:)
I’m totally not understanding the comparison you’re drawing on this thread. The situation in Washington’s time was just a TAD bit different than the possible situation with Obama. ALL of our founding fathers were subjects of the crown UNTIL they signed the Declaration of Independence - at which time they had effectively rejected their English citizenship, publicly declaring themselves to no longer be under the jurisdiction of King George. Whether the crown would recognize their citizenship really matters not. What did matter is that they had sworn allegiance to each other against their former master, which was the foundation of our country itself - thereby swearing their allegiance to our country, and no longer wishing to be subjects of the crown. So, there were hardly any “dual allegiances” in this regard (even if King George wanted to call them English citizens and terrorists).
As for Obama - again a BIG difference. The most glaringly obvious problem with all of these things is that he is not being forthright about any of these things. Why do these issues keep cropping up - where there is smoke there is fire...
