Nan on drilling: No longer the hoax I knew

Maybe Do-Nothing Nancy should enter the Olympic diving competition. She gets a 10 for her flip-flop-flop yesterday on drilling. It is now no longer the “hoax” she knew.

What a hoot. Did she think she could sell 2 more books trying to pander and straddle like this? Nan, you’re slaying us. My sides hurt.

From CNN’s Larry King show:

PELOSI: I would not. It depends how the drilling is put forth. But I don’t — that is not excluded, let me say it that way. It depends how that is proposed, if the safeguards are there. Now, mind you, 68 million acres — 10 million more acres in Alaska where they can drill. But if there’s — if we can get some great things, in terms of renewable energy resources; a renewable electricity standard; wind, solar, biofuels and the rest in that context, because if you make a decision only to go with the offshore drilling, you are increasing our dependence on fossil fuels and you will never free yourself of that addiction unless you invest in the renewable energy resources that are good for the environment, cheaper for the consumer and will reverse global warming.

And the consumer is our first responsibility. The American taxpayer owns this oil offshore, by the way. Let me make this one final point. This oil is owned by the American taxpayers. The oil companies drill. We give them money to drill there. But we get very little in return.

So I think as we have this debate, which is a very healthy one to have and I welcome it, we have to review and realign the relationship between our oil, big oil’s profits and what it means to the consumer and the taxpayer.

Yeah. She means realigning…with Big Wind!

14 percent and plunging faster.

Know your failure, hon.

It sounds to me like she is setting the stage for pushing the idiotic "Gang of 10" compromise bill that will tax any price reduction right out the window.

These folks have been/are going to destroy America's economic might.

This comment ranks right up there with all the other ridiculous and bizarre comments that come out of her pie hole!

Well Nance, you're paid with our money and we get very little in return too.

In English, that means that drilling is OK by Nancy if it is proposed in a form that lets the rats pretend they are allowing more drilling while in fact, little or no additional drilling would actually occur.

These folks have been/are going to destroy America's economic might.

The true culprits are the voters around the country who have made the RATS the majority party in both houses. I'm not saying the Republicans haven't royally screwed up, but in the end, the voters keep sending and expanding the number of awful RATS in the Congress and the states. There seems no letup in sight here in the People's Republic of New York and the neighboring states of New Joisey, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine that make up the Northeast Comintern in stanching the march of the socialists.

Didn't Exxon pay something like 86 Billion in taxes and profit something like 30 something Billion?

I'd say the government is getting windfall taxes - they should reimburse the oil companies!

Very good summation - spot on, I'd say!

That part in bold is completely wrong. The oil companies bid on leases covering public lands, whether onshore or offshore, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars per year. That is money flowing from the oil companies to the Bureau of Land Management/Minerals Management Service.

It's hard to fathom how San Fran Nan could have gotten this so completely wrong. It's almost as if she was trying to intentionally misrepresent the situation.

Oh yeah! She sees in the (gag)Gang of 10 bill the old smoke and mirrors switcheroo. Drilling! Off shore!----Way, way off shore. No more drilling within 50 miles of shore; no reopening of damaged wells (Katrina) within the 50 mile limit; drilling by only 4 states, who have to work with enviro orgn (which pretty much caps it all); absolutely NO DRILLING IN ANWR.

SHE SEES A WAY TO UNDERCUT REPUBS WHILE LOOKING GOOD TO THE PUBLIC--"OH, YES! We're for drilling if done right (which equals no drilling.).

No bill would be better than this quackery brought up by Graham. I loathe the little toad, and I fault the people of SC for not taking him out in the primary.

Pelosi also brought up the 68 m. acres under contract. Oil companies are many and even the little wild catters lease land in hopes of finding oil. However, Pelosi and the Dems make this sound like a big, big deal, as though about 3 major companies have leased this land and just will not drill. They prefer and need to go to ANWR and the off shore shelf to get the amount of oil we need.

All their statements are so fraught with untruthes and half-truthes. Please help me educate the clueless about the oil hoax, the global bs, and the enviro global tax and regulation threat. I bring it up to almost everyone we meet and most do not have a glimmer of what is going on.

"And they did ABSOLUTELY nothing to earn it and then act like they did all the work!"

That's why they're addicted to it, don't appreciate it, and take it as their right. A pox on them - Bela Pelosi and Dingy Harry both.

And the 'Gang of 10."

Yep, they’ll tie it up with so many pre-requirements, regs and taxes to make their ‘allowing’ us to drill for our own oil useless.
