Today's New York Times article begins:
Nearly 10,000 of the biggest donors to Republican candidates and causes across the country will probably receive a foreboding warning letter in the mail next week.
and goes on to describe a newly formed group composed of veteran Democratic activists who intend to run a campaign to try to intimidate GOP donors and chill their activities on behalf of Republican candidates. The letters will be a mere first step with increasingly harsh attacks promised if the GOP supporters actually exercise their democratic rights-these steps include legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups that will "dig through their lives".
This group's donors-because of a loophole in the law regarding such 527 groups-will remain anonymous. Too bad. Given the Democratic operatives and activists at work in this group and that their goal is to boost the candidacy of Barack Obama can anyone doubt that Obama's biggest supporters are also behind this group? After all, George Soros is the single largest funder of such 527 groups and Soros was one of the earliest and most influential of Obama's supporters.
Barack Obama is supposed to be a new type of politician who lives on a higher plane than other politicians. He has denounced "old politics"-at least rhetorically when it suits his purpose- to deflect scrutiny of his record. John McCain denounced the Swift Boat campaign (and defended John Kerry from their criticism) and has warned 527 groups on the right that he rejects their support and has warned them to avoid untoward attacks against Barack Obama.
Will Obama now stand up and warn this group to avoid the psuedo-terror tactics that they seem primed to engage in over the next three months? Will he ask them to allow others to practice their free speech rights-free from worries about unfair attacks? He is a Democrat, after all. We do live in a Democracy. Oh..one more notable aspect: the group proudly identifies two main targets: Sheldon Adelson and Mel Sembler - both of whom are Jewish and strong supporters of the American-Israel relationship (which George Soros wants to rupture) Hmmm....
Guess I’ll have to drag my check book out, with a note to the GOP candidates that they have the Democrats to thank for the contributions.
(2) There is an excellent lawsuit here on a number of grounds.
Give it your best shot, guys.
Stand your ground NOW, or risk losing your rights forever. These are the people who would take power - and unless we win election, they will continue this reign of intimidation on a scale we could never have imagine.
I WILL be voting McCain.

If these fine fellows were concerned with slander, why don’t they just sue? Or is it that they don’t want the truth out there?
Actually this is funny. I don't usually do this but, last night close to midnight I made a contribution to the fellow running against Murtha...
And I slept like a baby.
There is much at stake. The left wants us to think there is no difference. There is a difference and I’m voting McCain and Conservative Republican all the way. I can’t remember the last time I had the opportunity to vote for a conservative Democrat. I’m beginning to think they don’t exist.
So WHO would be stupid or timid enough to be bullied by DEMOCRATS?
To quote Spicolli from fast Times at Ridgemont High: “Those guys are fags!”
Don’t know where the cutoff is,but if I get the letter they may get a personal visit and complaint legal and otherwise.
This would do wonders for contributions.
Now edited to "those guys are jerks" when shown on both network and cable television.
Okay, this is really simple, people. They only have $200,000.00 right now - hardly enough to hire the army of lawyers they’d like to employ. They are vulnerable RIGHT NOW.
Hit them hard using the same tactics with which they are threatening others. But instead of doing it with an army of lawyers, do it with an army of Freepers... look them up, expose them, write them up in articles. It’s not intimidation if they aren’t contacted or threatened - it’s just discussion.
Guess Ill have to drag my check book out
and my 44 mag. just in case!
I was amazed by the recent NYer article on Shelly Adelson, and how little they were able to dig up on him. For approaching 80, doing business in Vegas and other gambling capitals, and being the 3rd richest guy on the planet, he really came off very well—despite their best efforts!
As to the illegal fundraising, do you suppose this group would be willing or obligated to pay out if it were Obama who was caught?
The turds behind this laughable group are about 9 months too late....
“Aug 7, 2008 ... THE OBAMA NATION’ TOPS 1 ON NEW YORK TIMES LIST “
If I ever happen to get one of these letters, I will send it back to the addressee with a brass .45 shell casing taped to it along with a “Don’t tread on me” flag graphic. Hopefully, they’ll get the point and I’ll not hear from them again.
I perfer to give to the candidates themselves *#^@ the GOP, hell I dont even have a congressional candidate this year, *
