State senator sues God
WorldNutDaily ^ | 5 August 2008 | Staff Writer

A Nebraska state senator is moving forward with his controversial lawsuit against his maker, requesting "a permanent injunction ordering [God] to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats."

State Sen. Ernie Chambers, I-Omaha, appeared before Douglas County District Judge Marlon Polk in a scheduling hearing against God on July 28.

Chambers, an atheist, requested that the court acknowledge the presence of God in the courtroom so he wouldn't be required to "serve notice" of the trial, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

[Snip]

The complaint drew widespread criticism when Chambers filed the lawsuit against God last year for creating "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like."

Chambers also blames God for causing "calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction."

first you have to make an argument. :)
Hundreds of millions of people have been killed by atheist commies. Stalin, Mao, Pol pot, Kim il Jung.

Someone who believes that man is nothing more than an undesigned collection of chemicals probably won’t cry too much if such a ‘collection’ is arbitrarily ‘rearranged’ (i.e. killed) by another collection of undesigned chemicals.

Ernie, who created the universe? VULCANS?

You see, it was probably highly evolved aliens, who were themselves created by even more highly evolved beings, etc...

That’s exactly it.

Two worldviews.

One sees humans as the “crowning glory of the Creation of God, made in His image, with the purpose of glorifying God, and having eternal existance”.

The other, as you say, sees no purpose in human life, existance for the short number of years they are alive, and of no more value than any other random collection of chemicals.

Now, which worldview is going to care more about the number of humans killed?

One sees humans as the “crowning glory of the Creation of God, made in His image, with the purpose of glorifying God, and having eternal existance”.

But religious people actually have to keep that worldview in mind at every second. People can’t just go through the motions and after finish praying, talk and act towards other people (especially during business hours) as if there is no higher power in charge.

I guess so...

I'm wondering if GOD would look like George Burns. (Remember the movie Oh GOD!)

You know... some of us — MOST of us, I’d say — hope that, when we do or say idiotic things... it’s in private. Where no one can see, or hear.

And then there’s this guy.

Swanky must be out trying to find some evidence that “religion” is responsible for more deaths than atheist Communism or Fascism.

Hey, the easy way out, dude, is to deny that the communists and fascists were atheists. Or at least the two things are not related.

It’s not true, but it’s the easy way out.

Uhh no, I argued against atheism. You’re stretching just a little to say that communists and fascists killed in the name of atheism, mostly because it’s not true, but it’s the easy way out.

Communists and fascists killed in the name of the state, which they deified by first denying the existance of a supernatural deity and outlawing religion. That is atheism.

I guess you got me - the commies killed all of their victims because they believed in a higher power than the state. I’ll submit a note to book publishers everywhere that they have history wrong.

Don't know if you typo'd this or not, but
my point was that the commies killed because they DID NOT believe in a higher power than the state.

Killing off all those folks was in pursuit of their utopia, it served the greater good of the state, their atheistic deity.

If you're going to mock someone's stated position, make sure you don't state the opposite.

Do the state senate candidates post leaflets outside the polling places so people know what they are?

I presume they do that in most places. Although the NE legislative candidates run without official party labels, it’s pretty much conceded that the GOP has an overwhelming majority in the legislature. Chambers was forced out this year due to term limits (after 38 years), and short of running for a lesser office, he has nowhere else to go. He could never win any higher office in the state.
