State senator sues God
WorldNutDaily ^ | 5 August 2008 | Staff Writer

A Nebraska state senator is moving forward with his controversial lawsuit against his maker, requesting "a permanent injunction ordering [God] to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats."

State Sen. Ernie Chambers, I-Omaha, appeared before Douglas County District Judge Marlon Polk in a scheduling hearing against God on July 28.

Chambers, an atheist, requested that the court acknowledge the presence of God in the courtroom so he wouldn't be required to "serve notice" of the trial, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

[Snip]

The complaint drew widespread criticism when Chambers filed the lawsuit against God last year for creating "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like."

Chambers also blames God for causing "calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction."

No, due to the fact that religion has probably killed more.

Given that the world population is growing all the time, that not all disputes are religious-based, you propose that disputes on religion have killed more than hundreds of millions?

If God has to go to court, will He have to place His hand on the Bible and swear to tell the truth?

LOL!!!

And if the judgment went against God? His possible reply?

"He made his ruling. Now let's see him enforce it."

“Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you you?”

he can’t sue G-d. G-d said “But from the Tree of Knowledge of what is good and evil, you shall not eat from it, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”

Adam ate from it.

Therefore:
“Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree which I commanded you saying ‘Do not eat from it’ the earth will be cursed because of you. In sorrow you will eat from it all the days of your life. It will grow thorns and thistles for you...”

I think even the interviewer thought he was a nut given some of his bombastic replies.

If God comes to court and takes the stand how does he get sworn in?

I God do solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. So help me.

The fact that we allow idiot nut jobs to participate in our Democracy; only speaks to the greatness of America. Let's see this nut try to sue Allah in some Muslim country...Heads would roll.

Does an atheist have standing to bring such a suit. God, as ultimate judge, should just dismiss this.

Are there any Freepers from Nebraska? If so, one of them could give us some insight into this very strange man.

I have lived in Omaha for 20 years. Ernie Chambers was term-limited after the recently closed unicameral session.

‘Racist nutjob’ completely and accurately describes this man. I believe he was a former Black Panther and all-around low-life.

He doesn’t have any respect from anyone in this area beyond the northeast corner of the city.

No, it was a simple mistake that some stupid freepers latch onto to invalidate an entire argument.

Observations from a layman:

1. If he doesn’t believe in God, filing a lawsuit against the Deity strikes me as the very definition of a frivolous lawsuit. No defendant, no case.

2. If he does believe in God, or is pretending to for the sake of the argument, I would think it’s his obligation to locate the defendant and have him (or his counsel) served, not the court’s to assume the defendant is aware of the proceedings.

You see it all the time, evoatheists claiming that their reasoning and science “disprove” the Bible, claiming that they are superior to God in wisdom.

This POS needs to be told that he’s looking at it from the wrong direction. Considering the sinfulness of mankind,

WHY ISN’T THERE A FLOOD, EARTHQUAKE, METEOR, LIGHTNING BOLTS
EVERY DAY?

Why? Because God is not only good, He is merciful. Don’t be lulled into complacency, though, because He is also JUST. And that last aspect should literally scare the hell out of you.

Not just Stalin & Pol Pot -

Mao, Hitler, Mussolini, modern day Leftists.

All are atheists that seek to “deify” the state, and we’ve seen what happens - MASSIVE DEATHS.

OK, then “validate” your argument.

Prove to us that “religion”, maybe even more specifically, the religion of the God of the Bible,

is responsible for more deaths that the atheist driven massacres of the communists and fascists in the last century.
