As he has since January, this week, Barack Obama enjoyed much more visibility as far as the public was concerned than did John McCain. By a margin of 76% to 11% respondents in Pew's weekly News Interest Index survey named Obama over McCain as the candidate they have heard the most about in recent days. But the same poll also shows that the Democratic candidate's media dominance may not be working in his favor. Close to half (48%) of Pew's interviewees went on to say that they have been hearing too much about Obama lately. And by a slight, but statistically significant margin - 22% to 16% - people say that recently they have a less rather than more favorable view of the putative Democratic nominee.
In contrast, if anything, Pew's respondents said they want to hear more, not less about the Republican candidate. Just 26% in the poll said they had heard too much about McCain, while a larger number (38%) reported that they had heard too little about the putative Republican candidate. However, as for Obama, a slight plurality reports that recently they have come to have a less favorable view of McCain rather than a more favorable view of him - (23% to 18%).
Not surprisingly, a very large number of Republicans say they have heard too much about Obama lately. But 51% of independents shared this opinion, and as many as a third of Democrats thought so too.

This campaign has been going on far too long.
I'm sick of Obama and sick of the whole campaign.
We need a law limiting the start of campaigning to no sooner than January the year of the election?
I thought there was one. It seems these last two election cycles have been never ending. No sooner did Bush win his first term did the constant media attacks begin and the Kerry campaign start.
I can remember there being a break between them, not so long ago.
And no sooner did Bush win his second term did Hillary begin her campaign. We had a full year of nothing but Hillary before Obama showed up.
Sounds as if you like him as much as I do.
Maybe he can hide under the bus with his buddies and relatives for a while.
The media are biased towards the left and hype and deliberately lie in the news to promote their agenda. But they don’t have enough sense to know when enough is enough. They really take the public for a bunch of ignorant fools.
It is ironic that despite the media’s obamagasm, Lord Obama is dead even or behind McCain in the polls. Even Michael Dukakis enjoyed a double digit lead in polling before the convention. I would think that at least some delegates to the Democratic convention would be having second thoughts about nominating this guy.
we all know the real reason he's going to Hawaii. There has to be some records planted, and church registry's modified... I hope someone is tailing him.
This morning, the postman brought a box of books to the door, and mentioned,
"They're tearing up Obama's signs around here-"
And not quite getting his meaning, I naturally replied,
"Well, I don't really hold with vandalizing people's political signs,"
and he hurriedly added,
"No, no, I mean the people who put them up in their own yards are tearing them down, now!"
Maybe a requirement that Senators and Congess Critters have to resign before they enter a campaign for president would do the job.
Except that congress would never pass such a common sense requierment.
After all - we have had these two mokes plus Hillary on full pay as Senators while on the road campaigning for almost two years instead of doing their job.
The country is on a downhill slide and they spend their time telling us how they will fix Washington when THEY ARE WASHINGTON!
In the last two years they could have done some of the things they only talk about.
How about no primaries until May 1st?
Oh, I imagine he is going to be tailed alright. The MSM is probably getting ready to get those cute beach pix of Barry and family.
and when he losses the MSM and the DNC will lament that if they only got thier message out.
Does it count if you switch over and there is a big bold “Obama” printed on the screen, while they are breathlessly talking about who he might pick for VP? Or do you actually have to wait for them to say the name?
It is a lot of coverage about nothing. When will they address the charges that he is a Marxist?
Yesterday I was somewhere that had two TV's going at the same time. One was an Obama presser, the other was a Brett Favre report (did you know that he left Lambeau Field at 1:43 PM?). I said, out loud, "Oh look we have The One and The Messiah on at the same time!, I wonder though which one is which?" Everybody in the place cracked up. Oversatuation of both men is turning a lot of people off.
Obama started campaign in 2004. McCain's 2008 campaign got underway in 2006 with help from Howard Dean's team.
I was sick of him and that loud mouth wife after two days of the media drooling all over him! He is an idiot and without a prepared speech or teleprompter he can’t formulate a sentence. I kept hoping during one of his messianic speeches the teleprompter would break and he would have to wing it! Ah ah ah umm umm....
