I’m so cynical now that in spite of the evidence I was sweating this one.

Right, if it’s general population it’s as good as a death sentence (actually better, since there is no lengthy appeals process)

Me too but once again the truth prevails and the Libs couldn't destroy the truth.
I know many questioned the necessity of GITMO but today I think we saw why it's needed.
One day the Libs will realize they haven't beat President Bush at any turn and won't.

who faces life in prison if convicted.

OH, no worries if he is convicted. Commissar Obama will PARDON him the first day he is in the House in Da D.C. Hood.

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba -- A jury of six military officers at Guantanamo Bay has reached a split verdict in the war crimes trial of a former driver for Osama bin Laden, clearing him of some counts but convicting him on others that could send him to prison for life.

I would much rather have independent jurors than military jury with agenda. But, this is probably as good as it going to get.

Geeesh. I wonder if that’s the result of the judge’s poor intructions to the jury..

Let me write the moonbat spin:

"Of course, he's guilty. This is Bushhitler's conga room court, where they admit evidence gathered through torture and tell the "jury" (which included three people proven to have known Haliburton employess, and a guy who sells rigged electronic voting machines) the verdict before they start debilitating. I'm expecting President Obama (all blessings be upon him) to pardon these poor men dragged from their countries, and try, convict, torture, and hang Bushchimp and Cheney and Condoleeza Aunt Tom Rice, and the rightwing propagandists at Faux News, CNN and the New York Times..."

The liberals will hang (no pun intended) their hats on this.

Hamdan's attorneys said the judge allowed evidence that would not have been admitted by any civilian or military U.S. court, and that interrogations at the center of the government's case were tainted by coercive tactics, including sleep deprivation and solitary confinement.

I was on a military jury one time and civilian juries but both are equivalent in the juries role as in examining statements and evidence and I don't feel there was any prejudices entering the jury rooms.
I have never voted to acquit in any cases because the evidence I saw was clearly on the guilty side.

Sarge, I can't resist: Would your real name be "Michelle" or "Barak"? '-)

Actually, I have more faith in military courts than civilian courts.
