Texas child welfare officials on Tuesday asked a court to order foster care for eight children at a polygamous compound, saying their mothers have refused to limit the children's contact with men suspected of being involved in underage marriages.
...
"In the cases of the eight children listed in today's court filing, the mothers have refused to sign the safety plans," according to the statement, which said the cases include six girls and two boys who range in age from 5 to 17 years old.
A hearing to determine whether to put the eight children in foster care was scheduled for September 25.
....
State officials said the agency has reviewed thousands of documents seized from the ranch, including marriage records, that show "a pervasive pattern of spiritual marriages between older men and girls 17 and younger."

The defenders of the men in this cult want to harp on about the right of the state and where it should end.
I have never read where they truly care about the welfare of these underage mothers and their offspring.
They want to state that they believe a girl should be allowed to marry at any age. But they refuse to logically examine it further and realize that a ten year old deserves an education, a childhood, the safety of the family home with their birth parents, and the ability to go through life unmolested, not raped by their pedophile husband and saddled with an infant.
The difficulty is that these armchair libertarians do not want to face the fact that these young children are losing their souls, all for the benefit of their pedophile husbands and a false religion. Yes, it starts with being about sex. But an enlightened society accepts the fact that the rape of these young girls is destroying them, because rape is not about sex, it is about dominating the psyche of the victim. As these girls are forced to live with their husbands until their own deaths, they can never escape the abuse that will be the foundation of their existence for the rest of their lives.
Well, yeah.
But you’re just looking at reality, and the bigger picture.
: )
I stand corrected. Mancos isn’t in Texas.
You remember back several weeks when you mentioned Mancos?
What was it you said about it, back then?
The only thing I could find was post #585 here: Security Increased for FLDS Hearing Today
You present a clean, reasoned and thoughtful response. However, those sick “freaks” are in fact here. At one time I followed this subject, but many of the responses disgusted me, so I had to quit.
Have a nice evening.
I’ve read parts of Elissa’s book...
Poor kid...
“However, those sick freaks are in fact here.”
Well, yes, but they need our help more than anyone else.
Thanks, you have a nice evening as well.
I happen to believe the court is the best place to handle this from. The men should have been removed in the first place and I continue to believe that. If you disagree, that’s fine by me.
THAT WAS IT!
The judge had jurisdiction in this case. She knew what was supposed to be going on out there. The men are the ones causing the problems, and the children and now the women are the ones taken to task.
Please folks, lets focus on the men. They are the culprits here.
“I happen to believe the court is the best place to handle this from. “
Which is exactly how the 8 FLDS children are being requested by CPS to go back into Protective custody.
You said the LE and CPS failed to keep the men away from the women and children.
Do you still believe that?
After reading the motions, I’m going to disagree. Some of the women have to be “focused” on too, like Ellen Grace Steed Barlow Jessop.
Grow up.
In otherwords, you are afraid to answer the question?
Alice, except for the men who have finally been charged, all the men at the XFZ Ranch have skated on these issues.
If you want me to support going after the women at this point, I’m going to have to see the men taken to task.
Otherwise this is just ridiculous.
The men set up the rules. The young girls are sexually abused. They are impregnated. They bear the children. And the men who set this up, enjoy the fruits of criminality skate.
In what world does that make sense.
The judge should step in and order these men out until the investigations are over. It’s what generally happens when men are accused. Remember, a lot of women do not support the man being removed from the home. They are still removed.
These men should be removed. If the women need to be addressed, I’m not against it. First things first. If the kids are at risk, then darn it lets start acting like it.
Lay off the kids and the women, and go after the real culprits.
In other words you’re acting like a child.
“In other words youre acting like a child.”
Really? Perhaps you could show us a comment where I acted like a child, to you?
I could list comments of yours that are comparable to the arguments made by children on the playground, but what would that prove?
This article is interesting reading. You might want to actually read the whole article, before debating what it says or means.
You have been arguing that the State,LE,and Judge didn’t protect the children from the FLDS men, and that it shouldn’t be blamed on the women. You said that the LE and CPS shouldn’t go after the women for this problem.
These 8 children aren’t candidates for foster care now, because the men violated the agreement the mothers signed.
Did you know that?
“In the cases of the eight children listed in today’s court filing, the mothers have refused to sign the safety plans,” according to the statement, which said the cases include six girls and two boys who range in age from 5 to 17 years old.”
“Remember, a lot of women do not support the man being removed from the home. “
When CPS did their investigations, most of the men had removed themselves to unknown locations.
Many of the women and children would not say who the ‘father’ was of the family.
Who, exactly, was CPS supposed to get a TRO against, when faced with no names, no id, and no men in the house to be identified?
You know what UCanSee2, you are one lame individual.
The men are the problem and so far everyone but them is the focus.
The kids are the focus. The women are the focus. CPS is the focus. LE is the focus. The media is the focus.
When I mention the men, you come off with some blithering loonacy that the men can’t be located, it’s just unreasonable to focus on them.
There are men at the compound each night. Go out there and identify who they are and get a court order to remove them. Done.
Why is CPS trashing the women?
The men hold the power at the ranch. The are the elders. They decide which young girls will get married. They do the marrying. They are the ones who have sex with the young girls. Why is it that the people who are the statutory rapists are the only ones the court has neglected to order to do something?
Get them the hell out of there and leave the women who are subject to their directives alone.
