Just minutes before 2:30 p.d.t. a fire broke out above Travel Town the train location of the park. Located half way up the mountain, the fire continues to grow as of this writing.
It appears to have spread to several acres at this point, but I am unable to see it up close.

Bump and Ping!
That’s where the Observatory is where they filmed “Rebel Without A Cause”. James Deans movie. I watched that movie being filmed when I was in High School.
The L.A. Zoo is close to there. I hope they gain control quickly.

It was a nice place with a nice view on the upper deck. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the telescope. laser light show that opened to huge popularity at Griffith Observatory on Monday nights in 1973. Laserium spread to 46 cities, but lost its novelty over time: “Its once cutting edge projections now just looked like mammoth precursors to the modern day screen saver.” There was no place for a dated laser show in the new planetarium, so the equipment is warehoused in Van Nuys where the father of Laserium, Ivan Dryer
You beat me to the ping in less than one minute.
“Run like H@#L!” was my personal favorite because it started out with the little laser and grew in intensity with the song. I wonder when they stopped that show. After the show you could go down to Ben Frank’s on Sunset for a late meal.
