Is it possible to fall out of love with your own country? For two years, I, like many Americans, have been focused intently on documenting, exposing, and alerting the nation to the Bush administrations criminality and its assault on the Constitution and the rule of law a story often marginalized at home. I was certain that when Americans knew what was being done in their name, they would react with horror and outrage.

How dare this newspaper attack Egypt, where torture is the rule of the day. Hopefully the government will shut them down.
how many Jews are cynical about America being the greatest country
What did they not learn from Hitlor’s Germany? Whohelped liberate them from the hell hole? I don’t understand their thinking - mostly liberal, mostly democrat is it not?

If only Bush wore earth tones, all would be forgiven, eh, Naomi?
Believe me, as a conservative Jew in the NYC area, I know a bit about the subject, and it's not pretty.
But, on a happer note, the younger Jews are much more conservative.

So it was here yesterday evening on my neighbor's lawn when the conversation turned to politics. Of course, all the Bavarians were in favor of Barak Obama and I could get no traction in pointing out to them that the man was a nouveau and utterly unqualified to be the leader of the free world whose decisions would eventually affect them. In desperation, I extracted a 20 note from my wallet, held it in the air and declared that I would give it to anyone at the table who could name just one thing that Barak Obama had accomplished which makes him worthy of the presidency. No one could respond. There was only nervous laughter and a few self-conscious jokes. I was able to return the money to my wallet without any real claim being made upon it.
Everyone at the table, by the way, was either convinced or somewhat persuaded that the CIA had engineered the attacks of 9/11. Six years ago only the occasional drooling nut would have voiced such a view which is so preposterous on its face is any reasonable person must discount it. I asked them how many people would have to be in on the secret to keep the conspiracy going. Again there was no serious answer.
This piece by Naomi Wolf, like the CIA conspiracy theory, Michael Moore's movies and books, and the unremitting propaganda on behalf of Barak Obama, leave my poor neighbors without any chance to see the other side of the story. because they just don't get the other side of the story.
These are not crazy left-wing nuts, these are staunch Catholics, family people, their parents were all farmers, they are very conservative in their daily affairs, they're all raising three and four kids. They have visited America and they love America. One teenage daughter whose mother believes in the conspiracy theory is about to spend three weeks as a house guest of ours with her girlfriend in our home in America. Yet, they take their politics straight from the mouth of Michael Moore.
Naomi Wolf, like Michael Moore, does America untold damage and damages ultimately these Europeans who have all the right instincts and all the wrong sources of information.
At this point, all but a handful of my Jewish friends are voting for McCain ... and that handful would vote for Mickey Mouse if he had a (D) behind his name.
These liberals are really delusional, I mean serious mental problems, honestly, let her leave and go to an islamic country for all I care.
PING!
Well stated.
Too bad the “other side” of the story is not being told in Bavaria.
I never fell out of love with my country, even when I wanted the guy running the government (or the folks running Congress) to just go away.
I asked them how many people would have to be in on the secret to keep the conspiracy going. Again there was no serious answer.
That, right there, is the million dollar question. Who besides AQ was in on their conspiracy of 9-11. Those who knew or played a part numbered thousands, actually - whether they were involved peripherally, or directly, they knew something was being planned.
Would Naomi write about this? Not likely.
I’m sure Naomi was just as busy documenting the criminal acts Bill and Hillary were committing during their disgraceful eight years in power.
Oh, wait...
“Patriotism means supporting your country all of the time, and your government when it deserves it.”
-Mark Twain-
Even when you are in Eqypt!
"Naomi, you ignorant slut......LEAVE!"
Yup, this is an important part of the picture.
We must build the intellectual structure to resist military force deployed in the name of international “law”, even though that can’t happen (to us) for at least 20 years.
We have set very bad precedents in Serbia and Kuwait (GW I), and the runup to Iraq wasn’t much better.
We must be crystal clear in our own minds, and teach our children, why what we did to Serbia and Saddam would be impermissible if done to us by Europe and the Chinese.
Where do you get your 20 year number?
I don't think EU-Chicom cooperation will be developed enough to move on the USA for that long.
There will have to be a few crises where the US is "ordered" by some phony international "laws" to stand down before the populations over there get whipped up enough to pull the trigger - and our armed forces will have to undergo some further deterioration.
But 20 years is a guess - with an Obama administration, it could go much faster. Important to stay proficient.
