WASHINGTON, (AP) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is behind on a dark horse in the Democratic veepstakes: Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas.
"I hope he will be the nominee," Pelosi said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
Edwards, first elected in 1990 and now in his ninth term, represents Texas' 17th District, which includes Waco, College Station, Fort Hood and the small town of Crawford, where President Bush has a ranch. . . .

I live in his district and we ask ourselves that all the time. He has a stranglehold on the seat. In his favor he worked his tail off to prevent the closure of the Waco VA hospital and in general takes good care of the military in the area. That's about the only good thing I can say about him.
“Edwards, first elected in 1990 and now in his ninth term, represents Texas’ 17th District, which includes Waco, College Station, Fort Hood”
Fort Hood used to be in Chet’s district. John Carter-R is our Congressman now, thank God!
Chet Edwards is a typical dem politician, except he has never publicly cheated on his wife. The media loves him, and gives him credit for everything. When he did represent Fort Hood, there was a press release for every single bullet delivered to Hood, and he told us that it wouldn’t have happened without him.
HE RUNS AS A CONSERVATIVE
Still wouldn’t deliver Texas. LOL! What a hair-brained idea.
The one good point is that we, in Central Texas, would finally be rid of the scumbag.....
Is he related to that crook family from Louisiana, former Gov. Edwin Edwards, et al?
Most Democrats from Southern states do the same thing just like the ones from Arkansas. You would think they were Republicans because many don't even advertise a party affiliation.
LOL.
Then there’s always the comic relief guy on O’Reiley with the cowboy hat...Kinky friedman??
Isn’t he the guy who choked when Chris Matthews challenged him to name one accomplishment of Obama’s?
College Station was represented by Republicans ever since Phil Gramm switched parties in the early 80s. Unfortunately, the most recent redrawing of congressional districts put us in Edwards' district (Tex Pete, you got John Carter at our expense!).
The GOP hasn't worked hard to oppose him since then, and he's made mincemeat of the weak candidates he's faced. He even won the Aggieland vote in 2006, after shamelessly showering US taxpayer money on the university. Oh, he's also good at working a lot of conservative rhetoric into his campaign materials (even though his voting record speaks otherwise).
