No.
The ILLEGAL immigrant was lucky our country didn’t kick hin out back to his country, where he had apparently ZERO earning power.
I’m not surprised.
And what’s worse, I read a post further up the thread that homeowners need to be sure to check workman’s comp coverage from any contractors that do work on their property - employers leaving their clients vulnerable if a worker gets hurt.
Jeez.
Only problem is that its illegal to employ someone without a valid ID. At least thats what they tell us dumb american citizens.
Suddenly, that cheap labor ain't looking so cheap.
“Suddenly, that cheap labor ain’t looking so cheap.”
It has never been cheap for the taxpayer. It is cheap for the business owner who shares his profits from slave labor with politicians who facilitate the modern day slavery. I believe it will cost our country several dollars for each dollar someone saved.
Cheap fruit and vegetables (questionable now anyways) are not worth the price future generations will be saddled with for this insanity!
I know a orthopedist in Dallas that recently preformed knee replacement surgery on a man from Mexico. The patient had injured his knee earlier when a cow had kicked him. His employer in Mexico paid cash for the surgery.....
Good. I hope this keeps on happening. I’ve heard of other stories like this. Illegals should not be hired.
“His employer in Mexico paid cash for the surgery.....”
So not all the good employers are here in the states, and not all the bad ones are elsewhere.
Not nearly enough to cover what it is going to cost to pay for the judgment against the employer.
I always thought so. If the employer can save enough money hiring illegals - when using post-tax dollars - then more power to him, and he’s free to hire away.
Let the market decide...
I agree, but not so much because I'm worried about the illegal. I just want the employers of illegals to pay up, and I want the illegals deported.
Send him home, and let the employer pay the bills there. If Home is Mexico, they certainly will be a lot less than in the southern suburbs of Omaha.
For the AFIRE ping list.
Sun Valley Landscapes argued that because Andrade is an illegal immigrant, he was not covered by workers’ compensation benefits.
***It’s these types of companies that are pushing for the open borders policy. They don’t care about the impact upon society nor their own workers.
I agree with the ruling. I don’t see what documentation the employee used to be hired therefore I will not hold the employer responsible for hiring him. I don’t want employers being immigration cops anymore than I want employers to be bookkeepers for the government. The government can verify the documentation or change the laws. I think employers should show total cost of employment so workers can see what is actually taken from their actual pay.
Must've been his best runner..
j/k...;)
You mistakenly think illegals are rushing to get into the court system.
I adjusted WC claims for almost 5 years in California and had similar situations. The illegals sometimes come here planning to file a claim and take their settlement back to Mexico where the money goes a lot farther. I had some SSNs come back with 10 or more names tied to it from all over the country. I turned claimants and employers in for fraud with no results. I had video of an illegal working for a different employer and an idiot judge ruled that the claimant credibly testified that it wasn’t him in the video! I had depositions from several claimants that the employer paid them under the table. This reduced the premium and is employer fraud. The whole system is corrupt.
The hiring of contractors caused a heated discussion between my husband and me last year. We wanted to put new energy efficient windows in this old farm house. I wanted the best windows and licensed and insured contractors to install them. He wanted cheap labor. Since I was paying for them I prevailed. I hired professionals and made it very clear that there would be no illegals on my property. They said they never used them. I went over all the paperwork and small print. They did a wonderful and professional job and it was worth every penny.
I like to save money like everybody else but not when it comes to major home improvements. Our farm is paid for and I’m not taking any chances on losing it due to lawsuits by contractors.
The article says Andrade worked for 15 years. I did not see where it stated he worked for Sun Valley for 15 years.
A bit like America's "peculiar" institution, which netted huge profits for plantation owners for generations but was paid for through the suffering of others.
