Radio Hall of Fame will not Bow to Homosexual Pressure to Dump Dobson

CHICAGO, August 1, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The National Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago has drawn the wrath of homosexual activists who object to the induction of Dr. James Dobson, a major figure in the US Christian pro-life and family movement. Wayne Besen, a homosexual activist, organised a campaign against the Hall of Fame that resulted in several hundred emails demanding that Dr. Dobson be removed from the list of nominees. 

Dr. Dobson is the founder and head of Focus on the Family, one of the most prominent US Protestant evangelical organisations. According to homosexual activist Wayne Besen, Dr. Dobson is "an extremist who has built his empire on the backs of gays and lesbians" and "a bigot who distorts scientific research." Focus on the Family is one of Besen's favourite targets and he has set up a website meant to refute the medical and psychological research put forward by Focus on the nature and treatment of homosexuality as a disorder.

"It is an affront for the Radio Hall of Fame to honor James Dobson, a right wing demagogue," said Besen.

Since the late 1970s Focus has been a leading advocate of traditional Christian social values, those most derided and demonised by the homosexualist and feminist movements. Dobson broadcast his first Focus radio broadcast in 1977 and currently reaches about 220 million people in 164 countries. In the 1980s, Focus became a key player in the efforts to bring together a coalition of Christian denominations to fight the "Culture Wars" over abortion, the defence of natural marriage and the rights of Christians in the public square.

Gary Schneeberger, vice president for media and public relations (PR) at Focus on the Family, said that Besen's complaint is noisy and has generated a lot of media attention, but is lacking substance.

"The Focus on the Family broadcast was created as, and remains, a means of helping families thrive," Schneeberger said. "If you were to analyze the content of our 32 years of broadcasts, only a minuscule number deal with public-policy issues, and an infinitesimal number deal with homosexuality."

In a public statement, the chairman of the National Radio Hall of Fame (NRHF) showed no hint that it intends to bow to pressure to politicise its nomination. The nominations, he said, are based solely on the honouree's contributions to radio.

Bruce DuMont, NRHF chairman, said the selection is not based on the politics or religious beliefs of the candidates but solely on "tenures and accomplishments in the radio industry."

Once the nominations are made, voting includes members of the public and the selection of Dr. Dobson has been a popular one. "The very nature of radio," DuMont said, "often creates large numbers of fans devoted to their favourite personalities, and the number of votes cast in 2008 increased significantly."

The voting ended July 15 with more than 70,000 votes cast and with Focus on the Family having won the nationally syndicated broadcasters category, beating out Dr. Laura Schlessinger and "shock jock" Howard Stern.

This perfectly highlights the quandary in which we find ourselves today, a quandary in which tiny splinter groups are so often able to inflict their perverted will upon 300,000,000 people who disagree with them. When a Christian organization launches a campaign of making voices heard, the e-mails number in the hundreds of thousands, or even millions. Reprobates like this can get "several hundred" people to speak up.

Despite the staggering difference in numbers, one could easily believe that the vast majority of Americans are pro-homosexual-agenda, when nothing could be further from the truth.

No matter what they pretend, they are desperate for validation. They know that they’re aberrant, but all they can do is try to force everyone else into saying that they’re not. I guess they think they’ll be able to believe it themselves then, if they can by force and PC create their “alternate reality”. Do you really think a righteous God is all that pleased with them when they won’t do what He says? Why should one repent for being disgusted with unrepentant sin? (Is 3:9, Is 1:9, De 29:23, Is 13:9, Jer 23:14, Jer 49:18, La 4:6, Am 4:11, Zeph 2:9, Mt 10:15, Mt 11:24, Mr 6:11, Lu 10:12, 2Pe 2:6, Jude vs7, Rev 11:8) Notice that 2Pe states that God made them an example to (a warning of punishment against) those that would afterward live ungodly.

These perverse men (and even some women) just cannot stand the fact that righteous people will not join them in their sin but will verbally rebuke them. I cannot stand the fact that they want to recruit my children for their own lewdness and wicked ways.

Because I'm at the point where I'm disgusted with the people themselves, not just their perversion. Because it's not enough for them to just live their lives and continue their perverted practices, now the rest of us must be forced to-not even just tolerate anymore, but celebrate their perversion. In Canada, you can't even have a religious conviction against it without taking your chance of getting hauled into court. A religious conviction! Being outlawed! Not some kooky child-sacrificing religion, but the religion of our forefathers, the men who founded our nations. It's insane.

The only way that homosexuality could have been created by God would be if God Himself were to shed any and all of His logic, for what sense would it make to infuse a sexual attraction for the same gender in His creations?

If in order to reproduce the human species, male and female are required, to create or condone homosexuality at the very least would be illogical and counterproductive to the continuation and sustaining of the population.

Contrary to the politically correct blah-blah, homosexuality is a LEARNED behavior, which is why the homosexuals have always been so intent on teaching it in the public school system, as early as possible.

They want our children.

The person that I wrote about is a former social worker and now college professor. I cringe every time I think of how she must be corrupting young minds.

The few political conversations that we've had in recent years tells me just how brainwashed she is thanks to the homosexual organizations and all the Marxism she has come into contact with.

And I agree with you. Now that the Lord has blessed me by “clearing my vision” and after my experiences with this woman, I've come to realize that it IS learned and NOT biological! Homosexuals (this woman included) who say that homosexuality is learned are deceiving themselves.

The sad thing is that she grew up in a Christian environment (and hasn't “come out” to her parents BTW). Satan has certainly gotten a hold of her.

While I didn't grow up in a Christian home (God was never discussed) but had exposure to it via my grandfather and cousins. I FINALLY came to my senses a couple of weeks before I turned 50 years old. I am so blessed that the good Lord didn't give up on me! I've emailed her about homosexuality being a sin; that its not biological, and that she could be standing in front of God at any moment. Due to her homosexuality, pro abortion, and *Marxist beliefs I've told her that she will be going to Hell unless she repents.

*While I'm still a newbie in Christ and have yet to come across anything in the Bible that says that Marxism is wrong, I do believe that it is a sin. After all Marxism enslaves people and doesn't allow for the Christian worship of God.

I think you're really not giving yourself enough credit. Ask yourself this: If the homo-radicals repented, stopped shoving their sin into everyone's faces, and began living wholesome, celibate lives would you feel the same about them? In this way, you might be able to see that it's really the sin you despise - a spiritually healthy attitude, really.

Loving the sinner doesn't mean being all sweet and sugary with them. Quite the contrary, it often means telling them the truth, often violently (figuratively.)

The Lord clearly has His Hands on you, and it is through the empowering of the Holy Spirit that you have been able to go forth and boldly speak His Truth. It is our obligation to speak out on the need for Salvation, the need to repent of our sins, to get on our knees and ask Jesus Christ to save us from an eternity of separation from Him.

We are not perfect and never will be until these sinful and carnal bodies give up the ghost at the end of our lives, or at the moment He descends with a Shout, as His Word states.

All any of us can do every day is "do our best, and trust Jesus for the rest" and pray for those who are lost and bound for Hell.

PS - Karl Marx said 'religion is the opiate of the people', I think that pretty much sums up the view of Marxism towards the Almighty, in Marxism/Communism, the State is 'all', in reality, everything else pales in comparison to our Creator who is truly ALL.
