I'm sorry a few hours is really no big deal and this time it really wasn't enough. Many on this board have sacrificed far, far more. It showed a lack of vision, a lack of imagination and a lack of serious determination and stamina. Again, the Republicans had a chance to really seize the moment and create a REAL moment (unlike Obama's false moments) and they blew it.
We'll all be paying high gas prices at least for the next five weeks and probably much longer.
It has opened up a whole new level of debate on off-shore drilling
and has given the president ammunition when he can use it.
I hope..........
Those GOP Congressmen, including mine (Todd Platts from Pennsylvania’s 19th District, who turned around on the road and came back after he heard what was going on on the radio), did a great thing, and FR did its part whipping up the fire there.
However, I think that they made a tactical error by shutting down the protest and leaving at 5:00 p.m., instead of bringing in the mattresses and occupying the chamber until they did get the MSM’s attention. Didn’t Mike Pence say at one point that they weren’t going to leave until they got a vote? Now, his rhetoric looks somewhat hollow.
At the very least, they should have stayed there as long as they could, even if it provoked a confrontation with the Sergeant at Arms and the Capitol police. Imagine what it would have looked like if the police had actually came in, arrested the GOP congressmen for trespassing, and led them all out in handcuffs, for just demanding a vote for new drilling. It would have revealed Comrade Pelosi and her goons for the Communists that they really are.
Regardless, I’m very proud of what our folks did, both in the House and on this thread! It was truly a shining moment in FR history.
From my standpoint I have been trying to urge pubbies to do something to show they are not afraid to take strong action on important issues and Friday they did!
Was it enough probably not, but was it an excellent start? IMHO, Yes, unequivocally!
