Those GOP Congressmen, including mine (Todd Platts from Pennsylvania’s 19th District, who turned around on the road and came back after he heard what was going on on the radio), did a great thing, and FR did its part whipping up the fire there.

However, I think that they made a tactical error by shutting down the protest and leaving at 5:00 p.m., instead of bringing in the mattresses and occupying the chamber until they did get the MSM’s attention. Didn’t Mike Pence say at one point that they weren’t going to leave until they got a vote? Now, his rhetoric looks somewhat hollow.

At the very least, they should have stayed there as long as they could, even if it provoked a confrontation with the Sergeant at Arms and the Capitol police. Imagine what it would have looked like if the police had actually came in, arrested the GOP congressmen for trespassing, and led them all out in handcuffs, for just demanding a vote for new drilling. It would have revealed Comrade Pelosi and her goons for the Communists that they really are.

Regardless, I’m very proud of what our folks did, both in the House and on this thread! It was truly a shining moment in FR history.

I agree with all of your points save one. I joined the people on this thread and did my part. Many of us did what we were supposed to do and some of us spent longer on it than they did. There were scores of people who would have descended upon Washington and offered visible support. By shutting down at dindin, they vastly undercut their own effectiveness. They took what could have been a problem resolving, monumental, climactic moment, and turned it into a fizzling, meaningless, shallow dud. It means a lot more money out of our pockets for God only knows how long, and little mileage to speak of.

I am hoping we get more out of this than many of us may think.

Thank you for your comments. : )
