John McCain has gotten his groove back.
How sweet it must be to have found a message for his campaign - but how sad that his message is all about how horrible his opponent is.
It's not a huge surprise; McCain did hire several Bush strategists. They've done a "search and replace" on the 2004 briefing books, substituting "Obama" for "Kerry" and - voila: Elite. Out of touch. Hates the troops.
The McCain team is doing a mini-Swift Boating - attacking Obama for his strengths.
The Democrat attracts crowds and generates excitement, runs a good campaign, plans ahead and inspires people. The Replicans want to make these things seem bad - and it was none other than Karl Rove who found the negative spin: "arrogance."
(snip - insert pathetic attempt at spin here)
The Obama team's response to all this is so far pretty weak.
On Wednesday, Obama told a crowd: "Nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. Oh, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. He doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills. The argument is, I know you don't really like what we're doing, but he's risky."
True enough - but Obama won't convince anyone by repeating his opponent's false attacks. He needs to make the campaign a referendum on McCain.
Next time McCain attacks, Obama should dispose of the claims in a sentence - then pivot straight to accusing McCain of trying to distract Americans from the fact that McCain doesn't understand how to fix the economy.
That is, point out who the truly risky one is.

Nice picture, he surely appears to be Presidential, if you are some kind of a hippy radical.
McNovocain is finally contesting the President-by-Acclamation, and somebody’s whining.
Enjoy your Pres. Obama while he lasts, ye presstitutes.
I guess he already did do the basketball thing in Afganistan.
“attacking Obama for his strengths. “
His “strengths” are being elite, out of touch and hating the troops?
Well, at least they admit it.
He’s not wearing a tie, so he looks like the kid that some parent tried to get fixed up nice for his graduation.
He's just trying to grab some of that Camelot mystique...
Kirstin was one of Slick Willie’s bimbos, but now she’s an Obama girl. Either way, she’s a dumb RAT.
she got painfully abused by Jerome Corsi last night on H&C
Yes, you have to understand -
the left views arrogance and elitism as “strengths”.
Arrogance just shows that Obama accepts his position of being an elite, and is ready to do his duty to make our decisions for us.
Of course, too many of us don’t understand, because we’re too dumb and unenlightened, that the decisions that the elite make are better than those we’d make for ourselves,
so that’s why they have to have the power of government behind them to force us to comply.
Assuming the Business Week report is accurate, there is no contradiction here. Obama intended to use the troops as a photo-op, and when he couldn't, he went shopping. McCain is planning ahead. It is called competence. The exploitation of the troops charge sticks because the views of Obama and Kerry are exactly the same. Obama was shamed into listenting to them and was lousy at doing that.
"Next time McCain attacks, Obama should dispose of the claims in a sentence - then pivot straight to accusing McCain of trying to distract Americans from the fact that McCain doesn't understand how to fix the economy."
And what exactly are Obamas credentials as an expert on the economy, that he calls "my committee" a banking committee that he isn't even on?
No no no. Silly you. The reference was to McCain having it "in spades," not Obama. :)
If that doesn't work, I'll just have to throw myself onto the mercies of the forum. In mitigation, I'm married to a "person of color" and my kids are as diverse as BO. Does that count? Probably not. Because they aren't real people of color because they are all, gasp, conservatives. Hide my head in shame and give up my radio show.
I wish I could help you. I really do. But once that kid gets started, he never stops. Three years from now, you can open up this thread, and he’ll still be yelling at you.
Kind of like real life, that way...
LOL. Trying to stop. Unlike the kid, I just managed.
It was hilarious watching her repeatedly shout over Karl Rove last night because she knew he was going to kick her *ss as soon as he could get a word in!
Yeah, I was laughing too. Poor Kristen had the “deer in the headlights look”, but it was the “bug eyed deer in the headlights” look.
She kept babbling on trying to keep Rove from speaking. I don’t think she even knew what she was talking about, she was just told to babble. LOL
Gee....I *really* never have been broken to the saddle, much less a yoke of elitist oppression.
Dear God in Heaven, PLEASE do not let this petty tinhorn dictator win.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmp !!
Time Out! The Obomber in Chief hoot hims wittuh hip!
