Car Travels 6,500 Miles for Oil Change (Environmentalists Go Berserk)
Web India 123 ^ | 08.01.2008 | UPI

Environmental groups blasted the owner of a Lamborghini who had the vehicle shipped from Qatar to London for an oil change.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, the same model driven by Christian Bale in The Dark Knight, cost about $40,000 to ship round-trip and $7,045 to service at an authorized London dealer, The Telegraph reported Thursday.

Environmental groups criticized the owner of the vehicle, thought to be a sheik, for sending his car on a 6,500 mile trip just to change the oil.

"This horrifies me. It is another example of how rich people exploit and pollute the planet because of their money", said Jenny Evans of the campaign group Plane Stupid.

Richard Dyer, a transport campaigner for Friends of the Earth, said the situation was ludicrous.

We urge the individual to get their car serviced closer to home, he said. (UPI)

Hell thats nothing, nancy Pelosie flies home every weekend on a government furnished jet.

Go's on Mondays to a hair appointment using two SUV’s for her and the escort.

Hairy Reid uses a government jet.

So what is the big gripe if some Sand pounder want to spend his hard earned oil money on flying his favorite car to London for an oil change.

I checked with the local Quick Lube and they said for $7,045 to change the oil they could have hired Larry Sinclair to give fallacio to Obama and still had coin to go pubbing.

This is pretty silly way to service a car, but it does transfer quite a few petro-dollars back into the pockets of actual working people.

3,500 more miles and it will be 10,000, again. Owners Manual says oil change every 10,000. : )

If I owned a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, I sure as heck would’nt take it to Jiffy Lube.

“Way to spread the wealth... think of all the jobs he created and sustained.”

Exactly. I thought the idea of a $100,000 shotgun was insane until I actually visted the Holland&Holland factory in London and got to meet some of the folks who work there. (A zillionaire associate of mine had bought several of their guns and I went there with him).

Something like this is an authentic transfer of surplus wealth into very worthy hands. Still don’t know if I would spring for a “best” gun or a Lamborghini if I could afford it, but it would beat giving the money to the libs for their stupid social programs.

However, he did follow The Obamassiah's instructions to keep the tires properly inflated so we know he does care.

The article says shipped. If it was shipped as in a cargo container the environmental impact is negligible.

Well, I dunno. Has anybody ever looked into the "carbon-footprint" of the "gree" hybrids, components of which (and assemblies) that have been shipped all over the world prior to arriving in the showroom as presently "green" vehicles in contrast to SUV's?

For now that's the best way we know how to do it. For NOW. But that will change. Give 'em a chnnce to drill using horizontal drilling techniques and we'll get some energy. We need more nuculear energy plants, but there's NO way we can sustain the electrical grid with the fissionable material that we presently have.

The next President needs to negotiate a nuclear waste refining exclusion to the existing treaty. That would change waste disposal requirement substantially. Nevertheless, and that notwithstanding, there'll be all kinds of issues with Russia in that regard. And quite frankly, does the U.S.A. have a right to dictate to anybody what to do with their indigeneous minerals?

I'm not going to speculate how the next President might implement such scheme. All the candidates went to much "richer" college than I am. However, its not rocket science. This is clearly a leadership / direction issue.

Dunno. All I konw is that there's WAY more than meets the eye. But, that being said, lack of nuclear in the near term is like a long term hole-in-the-head.

Not that I care, but wouldn’t it have been easier to fly a few technicians plus equipment to the car instead of vice versa?

I’m with Rush on this.

I would incite more rich people to fly their cars somewhere for oil changes.

If it pisses off the environmentalists so is worth the entertainment value alone. Heck, one of them might even have their head blow up.

This is a good thing.
