Sen. Barack Obama told a meeting in Chicago the U.S. should review how it can make amends for "offenses" committed during its history.

And one author is speculating that might even include reparations for al-Qaida soldiers, since, after all, they've been held in violation of their "rights."

Obama's comments came in a meeting with members of UNITY '08, an event for journalists who claim membership in various minorities.

Obama, according to the report in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, stopped just short of endorsing an official U.S. apology to various groups. He said instead the nation should acknowledge treating certain groups poorly.

That's exactly how it will be sold to the American people but in reality it will get directly to every black in America and it will be done in a way that they will be financially “seeded” for life.

You have to have this backward.

It will be sold as a direct payment to blacks, where they will be "set for life".

In reality it will just be taxes on everyone and a set of payments to "organizations" where the administrators will be the ones "set for life".

A family of 4 making $13,000 a year actually has the opportunity to clear $35,000 a year with government benefits and money.
A family of 4 making $35,000 a year will actually clear $30,000 a year after taxes but still have to pay for other necessities out of their own pockets.
The moral of the stats is that if you are making $13,000 or less a year and your boss offers to double your salary turn it down.

Yes, comparison with the hard left campaign of McGovern is warranted. Consider also that McGovern (at least and to his great credit) is a decorated Second World War fighter pilot and he still was clobbered by a centrist Nixon. With no military record or standing, how is it that Obama, in the end, can win?

I will not, and I mean I will go to jail, before I pay for something I did not do. Nor did anyone in my family. My family were cotton pickers too. The only difference is once they got done picking cotton, they went home to grow their own food.

I know they mean “set for life” even though it was Obama that said “seeded” and that's why I put it in parenthesis. It's Obama’s way of giving the old wink-wink to the Hood.

To the liberal mind, none of the examples you cite are relevant. The Greeks and Romans mostly enslaved other whites. The Chinese, Japanese, and Mongolians are non-white, so therefore any bad behavior by them is no problem.

A “problem” arises only when whites allegedly mistreated non-whites.

I remember back about thirty some years ago when the Blacks were entering the churches of all faiths except the black churches, and taking over the pulpits to demand reparations.
They were met with total disdain from the white citizens.
What the Negro population, some on welfare since welfare started, don't understand is that they were originally rounded up in Africa by their own kind (Black) and sold to entrepreneurs who saw a market in the U.S. for servants.
Since I am a second generation American, I had nothing to do with it and I'll be damned if I pay those welfare suckers a nickel of my money. Our Negro brothers should remember the aftermath of their first protest. But I wonder if they can read.
