ARROGANT CYCLISTS A DEADLY HELL ON WHEELS
New York Post ^ | Jul 30, 2008 | Andrea Peyser

IT'S murder out there if you like to walk. The bike people won't repeat this. But those who enjoy hoofing it on city streets stand a good chance of experiencing a close encounter with a kamikaze rider who treats stoplights like suggestions, and pedestrians like speed bumps. And some of you will die.

This summer I’ve noticed them running stop signs or red lights here in Albuquerque. Their “reasoning” seems to be - “nothng was coming”. I’m sure a motorist would get away with that reason for running a red light. And I do mean running - straight through - they aren’t turning right or anything.

I'm here. Not only as a bicyclist (I really have this major thing against being mowed down by cars whose drivers are generally following traffic laws, don'cha know?), but as a driver too (same issue, except I hate dealing with insurance companies and policemen investigating accidents).

You want a picture, I'll give you one.

It’s not for looks. The fabric that is IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE SKIN will wick moisture away from the body, while loose lycra would just trap the heat and sweat next to your skin. It’s all about function, and I’d rather stay cool than look good. I look good to the only person who matters.

Good form on the tackle, but a baton in the front wheel is ten times funnier.

hey buddy, I’ve NEVER worn spandex while riding my Harley.

And I NEVER ride on the sidewalk sober.

I’m sure that if you can convince any legislature that cyclists are causing significant damage to people or property, they’d gladly enact a law mandating that cyclists carry liability. However, I think we both know that bicycles aren’t causing a lot of monetary heartache in collisions.

makes one wonder if the pitiful anti-cyclist ire is actually a thinly veiled effort to suppress those nagging homo-erotic thoughts coursing through the haters mind.

Maybe we just prefer our testes descended.

Strange but hardly anyone holds them to the same standards such as taxation through licensing or bicycle registration, otherwise, they don’t have any “right” to the street.

Wrong, we have a right to the street because the law clearly says that we have a right to the road. If you don't like it, get it changed. Good luck on that these days.

I hate bikers. They are arrogant..they think they are better than everyone else.

And, like teenagers, they're oblivious to the fact that the rest of the world hates them.

I assure you my testes are descended, as is evidenced by my offspring, devils that the may be. Lyrca works, that’s reason enough to wear it. I leave vanity to those who care how they look.

The fact stands that traveling habits are changing and the bicycling population is exploding. Ignoring the petty BS, if bicycling continues to grow at its current rate, roads will be adjusted and laws will change.

And that usually means few if any on any side, will like it.

It is a BIKE path not a walking path, get out of the way!

The pedestrian ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY even in the middle of an interstate highway. The name of the venue does not change the fact.

You have to admit, they do look stupid.

On an overweight 45 year old man, yes. On a finely toned 25 year old woman, not so much.

Yes, but pedestrians are not supposed to walk on a BIKE path, period, that was my point when typed in caps! Here the signs tell them that they have a WALKING path in another area of town! You aren’t supposed to walk on it becaue you can get hit by bikes!
