We have them here in Spokane, too. Especially the early morning group riders. They don't understand the concept of single-file, and they don't ride "tour-de-france close" - always about 5 feet side clearance between each other and about that from the curb, which chews up the car lane (and these are nice, wide roads). Like they're afraid their road bike is going to catch some gravel.

As a matter of fact, the roads here are closer to goat trails than actual roads in some places, and are in much better shape closer to the curb.

I'm thinking that some #3 or #4 rebar would make a great cane for the urban environment...
