Obama Felt 'Hustled' by German Journalist
Der Spiegel ^ | 7/28/08 | Marc Pitzke

Posted on 07/30/2008 7:04:08 AM PDT by nikos1121

The story contained a florid description of Obama's physical attributes, praising his "well-trained arms," "his tight rear view," and how he lifted the masculine 32-kilogram (70-pound) dumbbells "first 10 times with his right arm, then 10 times with his left." (italics mine) And then there was the culmination: "Barack put his arm around my shoulders. I held him round the waist. Wow! He isn't even sweating!" And, lastly, there was Bonesky's conclusion: "What a man!"

I beg the moderator's indulgence as I wish to have this article posted once more, because something important was definitely missed by our readers when it was first posted.

I work out regularly. I'm not super strong, but I'm getting stronger, and I know like anyone else male or female who works out, even occasionally, what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to weight lifting.

In this article Obama is portrayed lifting 70lb dumbbells ten times in each hand. I challenge any FR reader to do this. In fact, I challenge you to do just one rep with this much weight.

First of all, this was another Obama Camp Plant, The purpose being that they wanted to show how masculine Obama is, and to counter balance and refute the other images of the wus riding the bike at 2 MPH with a helmut, or bowling a 40. They knew she was a reporter, and they knew they could get her to post this dishonest accounting. And they didn't refute it one iota.

No, they wanted to show that he is super human and strong.

I can tell you, that I don't think Arnold was capable of doing this when he won Mr. Olympia five times.

Hey, O' Reilly, I hope you're listening and keeping notes of the Obama Truth File. Please ask him directly when you interview him, if he'll let you and you're man enough to ask, if this is true, that he did lift this much weight and effortlessly at the gym

This guy is a phony. He's a liar, from the Chicago Daly machine, his birth record has yet to be fully vetted. He's a con man and everyone, except those who can read, can see through him. If this guy comes close to getting elected, then heaven help this country...And I mean that with all my heart.

Good point. If this had been about a Republican the MSM would have checked out the likelihood of it being truthful... As is, Obama gets the usual pass.

Obamassein is double dipping on this one. First, he plays up the Chance-Run-In at a Ritz Carlton gym, now he's the victim of a not-nearly-gushing-enough reporterette, who took advantage of his good (godly!) nature and natural naivete.

November can't come soon enough for me.

If what you say was "missed" was the improbability that he could lift a 70lb. dumbbell, you missed a thousand posts, threads, blogs and comments that challenged this very report and multiple sites including FR.

I agree! I work out a little. I lift 25lbs weights 15 times in each hand and eventhough I'm able to do it there's no way I'm even lifting 35lbs that many times.

Obama is a skinny man, not very muscular at all, I very seriously doubt he's pumpin' even 40lbs at 10 times each arm. Even my friend who's a body builder couldn't do the 70lbs!

For information purposes for your post, on the bottom tier rack, the last 4 on the right are 70lb dumbbells.

William Wallace: Sons of Scotland! I am William Wallace.

Young Soldier: William Wallace is seven feet tall!

William Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.

Thanks for pointing this out. I saw that initially but didn’t really concentrate on it.

As another gym goer I concur that the average person who works out and does dumbbell curls probably uses a weight between 25lbs-45lbs. Only a bodybuilder would even consider doing curls with more than that. The higher weight is to build bulk — higher weight fewer reps. Doing ten reps per set is more for keeping in shape/toning, inwhich case you’d want to use a weight that you can lift comfortably with proper form...I challenge any “average man” to do that with 70lb dumbbells.

Just take a look at Obama’s scrawny build, there’s no way this guy can curl 70lbs 10 times. He’s the kind of guy that does pushups 1..2..3..4..(someone walks over to him)...85...86..87...

Wow. I used to be a regular lifter... (Sword fighter and was big into areobics....).

Umm... I’m not a BIG guy, 175 pounds, 5’9” and I used to be able to bench around 300 lbs. But I can’t curl 70 pounds ten times. (I doubt I can curl 70 pounds ONCE these days! Hell, I might not even be able to pick up 70 lbs these days. lol!)

Senator, just FYI, those gaudily dressed women you saw strolling the main streets through the Tiergarten are not journalists. They are, however, in a closely related profession.

I challenged this along with a several others...but the press and everyone else just let this slide. Many of us saw it, but obviously from the posts today several people missed this.

Also, that the girl was an obvious plant. They knew she would report his work out, and they probably told her what he was lifting...

I’d like to see one reporter, just ONE ask him on this.
