Could we just dispense with these stupid daily polls until at least the last week before election day?

At this point in time, they’re next to meaningless anyway.

National polls are worthless as each state votes for President. There is NO National vote on the Presidential candidates. Who cares what these have to say?

If people would quit paying attention to a national poll and tell the pollsters it is garbage, then we might get somewhere. National polls are reported on breathlessly but they are meaningless as all voting is in the states not nationwide.

Bet we wouldn’t have nationwide polls if it favored a Republican and they were not doing well in the states.

"Registered" voters, not "likely" voters.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Weekend polling in the middle of the summer. Happy Republicans are at the beach or in the mountains with their families, out of reach of pollsters. Unhappy Democrats sweltering in their apartments in the city by the telephone. Let's see what it looks like by Friday.

Check The new USA/Gallup poll. McCain + 4 among LIKELY VOTERS. This is nice.
