His “bounce” peaked and is starting to drop a bit.

Wasn’t much of a bounce. Barely out of the margin and didn’t break 50.

Whats up with all of these contradictory polls?

They are not contradictory. Both Rasmussen and Gallup showed a bounce and now a decline. The difference was only in magnitude and that probably has to do with polling techniques and weighting factors.

LOL

Plenty of time for these polls to change.

Methodology.

The trends are more important than the actual numbers, unless the lead is huge (which it isn’t). Both Rasmussen and Gallup appear to be showing a moderate uptick that is now being followed by a settling downward, right back into the same trend we saw before his trip.

We probably need a few more data points over the next few days to know the full picture.

More to do with registered and likely voters. We now for certain that Obama underperforms the polls in the voting booth. If Barack isn’t breaking 50 at the polls come election time McCain is the next POTUS.

“registered voters” that would mean it is almost tied in NJ.

Could we just dispense with these stupid daily polls until at least the last week before election day?

At this point in time, they’re next to meaningless anyway.

National polls are worthless as each state votes for President. There is NO National vote on the Presidential candidates. Who cares what these have to say?

If people would quit paying attention to a national poll and tell the pollsters it is garbage, then we might get somewhere. National polls are reported on breathlessly but they are meaningless as all voting is in the states not nationwide.

Bet we wouldn’t have nationwide polls if it favored a Republican and they were not doing well in the states.

"McCain is the next POTUS"

Which isn't anything to sing about. but would be a relief that the fake guy didn't make it.

I was a McCain basher before it was popular. You can go back ten years here and know that. But it’s McCain or Obama. And given that choice I have chosen to not only send McCain money but to actively campaign for him as well. Which says nothing about McCain much but a helluva lot about my feelings toward Obama, Marxism and Jihadism.

There was never any bounce.....Simply an adjustment of the weighting models used (to create a bounce)......More of the same ..MSM polls looking to create news to try and get Obama elected (as they did with Gore, Kerry, etc).

My prediction was that by the end of the week it will have settled back down to q 2-3 point Obama lead.

So far, so good.

"Registered" voters, not "likely" voters.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Weekend polling in the middle of the summer. Happy Republicans are at the beach or in the mountains with their families, out of reach of pollsters. Unhappy Democrats sweltering in their apartments in the city by the telephone. Let's see what it looks like by Friday.
